Unsigned Senior Alert: Janari Hill
Tucked away at Jones Senior HS this season was a young man who turned plenty of heads in his city and even caught the attention of college coaches in the state. Janari Hill is a player that you may not have heard of until around February due to the fact that he dropped 64 points in a game against Southside High School. Yes that’s not a typo at all, he scored 64 points in a high school game and if you don’t believe it then take a quick look at the video below for all the proof you need.
This game was not his only big time scoring showing, he had some 40 point games as well which would help him in taking his recruitment to the next level. Elizabeth City State would be the school that would extend a scholarship offer to him and he verbally committed to the Vikings soon after he received the offer.
This is where things get a bit crazy, with the coaches and AD at ECSU being removed recently this has left Janari in a bit of a strange situation. The school has yet to name an AD or Head Coach and time is moving on, he hasn’t signed so he is still fully available for schools to recruit him as he could be a nice late pickup for a program that is looking to play up-tempo and score a high amount of points.
Scoring and speed are some of the better attributes about his game, but overall he has a nice amount of upside and we feel he will only get better once he gets into the correct college program. On the defensive end of the floor he has all the tools to be successful, quick hands and good lateral quickness are two of the attributes that you love for a defensive player to have and he possess both. At 5’10 ish he won’t be the tallest guard you will see but he plays the game with confidence and a high amount of heart, programs should take a look at him before it’s too late.
