Prospect Spotlight: Jamaine Mann (2020)
A top-20 prospect in Georgia’s class of 2020, Jamaine Mann seems on the verge of having a breakout 16U season ahead of his junior high school season.
The 6-foot-5 small forward is a good-sized playmaker, who says he’s best when attacking the rim.
“I see myself as a driver, I love driving into the lane and getting contact and trying to get the other team’s big-man into foul trouble,” he said. “And I like kicking out for the three, but I can hit a jump-shot, too.”
Mann played at Eagles Landing Christian Academy as a sophomore, and says is was very different from his freshman season. His role expanded greatly.
“My freshman season I wasn’t really a big factor, I would just sit on the bench and clap and get in when I needed to,” said Mann. “My sophomore season, I started every game, and was more of a scorer. It was a big upgrade from my freshman season.”
He’ll now get the chance to showcase himself with one of the area’s’ best AAU teams, Atlanta Express Under Armour 16U — they were in Dallas last weekend, and will be playing around the country the next few months.
Mann’s recruitment has already been starting to materialize, he mentioned Xavier, Georgia, Florida Atlantic and South Carolina as programs that have shown early interest. His brother, Charles Mann, played at Georgia from 2012-2016.
“My goals are to get as many offers as I can and to get ranked higher. I’m trying to break out of my brother’s shadow a little bit, people know me as Charles Mann’s little brother still,” said Jumaine. “And I’m just trying to make a name for myself.”
