Possible Spring Stock Boosters: 2020
We are less than 30 days from the first live period of the AAU season. With that being said, we’re going to spend some time looking at prospects from DC, Maryland, and Virginia in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 class over the next few weeks, and give you some names to look out for as we dive into what should be another hectic spring. Here we break down some possible spring stock boosters in the 2020 class.
JAHMAL BANKS | 6’5 G | BISHOP O’CONNELL
Jahmal Banks has a chance to be a very good basketball player at the next level. Armed with broad shoulders and long limbs, the 6-foot-5 guard can do a bit of everything on the floor, and has a high IQ for the game. Banks will feature on the 6th Man Warriors, and should see his recruitment begin to expand this spring.
NOAH CHARLES | 5’11 G | GLENELG COUNTRY
Noah Charles is a very underrated floor general in the local 2020 class. He’s got a great feel for the game, a strong work ethic, and ideal intangibles when considering a point guard for the college level. Expect Charles to take the next step this spring with Mid Atlantic Select.
CHUCK HARRIS | 6’1 G | GONZAGA
Given the injury that cost Prentiss Hubb his senior season, Chuck Harris was thrust into the starting point guard role for Steve Turner at Gonzaga. A role in which he thrived. Look for Harris to continue his upward trend this spring with Team Takeover.
ISHMAEL LEGGETT | 6’2 G | ST. JOHN’S
Ishmael Leggett has a reputation for working hard, and the results have become very evident. The sophomore earned a vital role this season at St. John’s, and continues to show improvements in his overall game. Expect Leggett to be a go-to-guy for a super talented Team Takeover bunch this spring.
WOODY NEWTON | 6’8 F | MCKINLEY TECH
Everything is starting to click for Woody Newton, and things are getting scary for his opponents. The 6-foot-8 sophomore is learning to control his body as he continues to grow, and his skill set has improved significantly. Newton is beginning to see his recruitment expand, but it can still go to another level. Don’t be surprised to see that happen this spring where he will look to stand out with Team Thrill.
