North Carolina Standouts From the Turnkey Classic (Part Two)

This past weekend the 2nd Annual Turnkey Classic was hosted at Webb School in Knoxville, Tennessee featuring a ton of talent from all over the Southeast. There were three North Carolina teams in attendance with Moravian Prep, Combine Academy, and Ambassador Christian crossing the state line for the weekend. Let's take a look at our second group of NC standouts from the weekend.    Jones has done such a great job playing his role with this very talented roster. As the backup PG, Jones does an incredible job running the show while balancing his own self-creation in the process. Defensively, Jones does a great job getting underneath, causing disruption to opposing ball handlers. Jones can make off the dribble three's at an efficient rate which allow him to get by defenders when they close out where he's a really crafty finisher and passer when attacking the rim. As Jones and Moravian continue on through their respective High School and OTE slate's, expect him to continue to garner more attention in the recruiting world.     Franklin has reclassified to 2027 and there's no doubt he'll make a nice splash in the rankings with what he's been doing on the floor for Ambassador Christian. Franklin is a very useful two way player that embraces rebounding the basketball. He's a constant threat on the O-Glass and uses his strong frame to carve space out when rebounding. He's also got some on-ball ability, he can play out of ball screens, make reads, and score from a multitude of areas on the floor. Franklin is a key physical matchup for this team, he can guard up in size with his strength and athleticism. He's an unsung hero, but there's no doubt that he's a vital piece to this roster that has a lot of talent. Franklin's versatile two way game will continue to shine for Ambassador Christian all season long.     Chilton has made the move to Combine Academy where he is key piece in that backcourt for Coach Betts. His ability to hit the mid-range pull up with consistency really shined this weekend. Whether it was isolation or ball screen's, he turned to that weapon quite a bit with a lot of success. He can make shots off the catch from deep as well, and is doing a nice job running the team. Chilton has the quickness to make defenses pay when not guarding with purpose. His ability to see the floor and find shooters is impressive as well, he can get a little ambitious as a passer but he definitely sees the floor quite well. Expect Chilton to continue to gel at Combine throughout the course of this season.     Moore is a supremely gifted scorer with a really big national recruiting reputation. Now that he's made the move to Ambassador, he is forced to show the other aspects of his game and the flashes in those areas are starting to show with more frequency. Moore could be a dominant rebounder if he wants to, we're now seeing games where he takes the glass over. His step back going left feels like an open shot in an empty gym, inevitable. As he continues to add strength, he'll become a more dominant driver and continue to show all aspects of what he can do. Moore is definitely showing signs of the growth we want to see from a player of his caliber, as it gets more and more consistent, he will reach his potential. After a tough game Vs Moravian, Moore and Ambassador responded very well by taking Max Preps top 15 Webb School to the brink in a close loss. Moore's growth was on full display throughout all 94 feet and 32 minutes of that one.     Wade has transferred to Combine Academy and he'll definitely see himself in the 2026 rankings when updated in January. Waide is a shifty guard with deep range and great feel when in control of the offense. He's confident in his ability to make plays for himself + others, and it's easy to see why. Waide has the ball on a string while being supremely coordinated with his footwork. This creates what we call a tough check. Waide has the ability to exploit other guards with consistency. For this Combine team that has had a bunch of new guys come in, expect Waide to emerge as one of the really high level new additions as the season continues.
