Expert Analysis

Jones has done such a great job playing his role with this very talented roster. As the backup PG, Jones does an incredible job running the show while balancing his own self-creation in the process. Defensively, Jones does a great job getting underneath, causing disruption to opposing ball handlers. Jones can make off the dribble three’s at an efficient rate which allow him to get by defenders when they close out where he’s a really crafty finisher and passer when attacking the rim. As Jones and Moravian continue on through their respective High School and OTE slate’s, expect him to continue to garner more attention in the recruiting world.

I know they don’t compete for a state championship but they’re the bonafide favorite to win OTE while also defending their title from last year. Moravian Prep has become the home for underrated stars and this year’s roster is full of them.

because of his ball pressure, outside touch, and ability to play next to either guy and fill the others void. He brings a ton of positive energy on and off the court, and finds a way to capitalize on his chances to run the show when his number is called. High academic PG with a lot of skill and an ego free game.

Mike had a terrific second game in Columbia, putting up 34 Points including 7 in a one-minute span to start the second half of Indian Land’s win over Fox Creek. He displayed blow-by speed, a tight handle, and deep range throughout the day. Jones also looked especially engaged on the defensive end on Friday, picking up his man just inside the half-court line, moving his feet well, and racking up a few steals. Mike is one of the top pure scorers in the class and along with his backcourt partner makes up one of the best duos in the state which makes Indian Land a team to be feared.

of Indian Land High School in 5A Region 3. Jones is coming off a monster Sophomore Season in 2023-24 where he set a school record with 636 Points, averaged 24.5 Points Per Game on 52/43/87 shooting splits, and was named All-State in 4A. Mike is a true score-first Guard but is good as a primary ball-handler or spotting up off the ball. He has a great handle, a quick release on his jump shot, is extremely fast, and crafty in finishing around the rim. Jones holds offers from UNC Charlotte and Bethune Cookman.

Adidas 3SSB Session 2 was my first time getting to see in person Mike as a member of the Upward Stars. He has been one of the top scorers in the state the past two seasons but showed his ability to be a facilitating guard in Alabama. He had 5 Assists in a matchup with ASAK, frequently beating his defender off the dribble and kicking to open shooters or dumping off t0 his bigs. Jones also can play off the ball when the Stars go to their two Point Guard lineup, as they did on Sunday, and he was effective as a spot-up shooter knocking down 2 threes.
