NCHSAA 1A East Region All-State Tournament Team: Part 1
West Columbus Senior Wing Jake Brownlee: Miami-Dade College got a nice pickup when they got the commitment from this young man. He’s physically advanced for his age, and can fill up the stat sheet with points and rebounds, when he’s in transition will put on a show that fans enjoy.
Riverside HS Senior Point Guard Jadakis Bonds: Another player who is a multi-sport athlete that can excel on the court as well as the football field. He looks to get other players involved first and foremost but can score it when called on. Most importantly he is a top on ball defender in the state and forces opponents into rushed possessions and turnovers.
Granville Central Freshman Guard Terence Harcum: He’s young but has made an early impact at his school and will be one to watch this summer with Garner Road. We got a chance to see him early on at the GMR Hot 100 Camp at a young age and each time we see him he only continues to get better and better.
Northside-Pinetown Sophomore Guard Rashod Smith: One of the more underrated players in the state, Rashod is a player that can score the ball at a very high level. Not only can he score the ball at a nice level but he also is one of the better passers in the state without a doubt.
Northside-Pinetown Junior Forward Johnathan Clark: He and Rashod Smith have created a nice duo and still have another year of playing together at Northside. Clark has some nice athletic ability and is numbers overall this season are impressive as he led the team in scoring with 17 points per game.
Pamlico County Senior Guard Caleb Baron: His squad made a deep run in the playoffs, ending in a state championship loss to Winston Salem Prep. One of his better performances came in the regional finals vs Rocky Mount Prep where he scored the ball at a very nice rate.
Rocky Mount Prep Senior Wing Khalil Baker: He is already a player that can score at a high level and will only get better once he gets into the right college program. His specialty it perimeter shooting and finishing inside by using his craftiness and strength.
