STUDIO CITY — Harvard-Westlake hosted its post-Thanksgiving Winter Showcase with some of the best teams in Southern California and Nevada. We were in attendance for all but one of the games Friday night and below we break down our best guard performers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1707488' first='Demari' last='Hunter'] | 2026 | Coronado (NV)

Hunter had his transition attacking and half-court speed on display as the quick-twitch 6-foot-1 combo guard was tough for the Corona del Mar defense to keep in front. The senior used his explosive first step to get a paint touch and his quick leaping ability to extend to the rim and finish with a lack of size protecting the paint. Hunter finished with 11 points in the loss to the Sea Kings.

[player_tooltip player_id='2425679' first='Devin' last='Wright'] | 2026 | Redondo Union

Wright is a valuable piece at the high school level - and will be at the college level - with his ability to shoot the three-ball but, even when his shot isn't falling at the clip we expect from him, he finds other ways to impact the game. The 6-foot-3 senior only knocked down one three-pointer but was able to put the ball on the deck, drive to his right hand and finish around the basket in transition and points off turnovers opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='2435366' first='Cole' last='Holden'] | 2027 | Harvard-Westlake

Holden has a really nice fundamental base to his game that allows him to be simple but effective. He knocked down the open catch and shoot three, organized offense as a primary ball handler, made good decisions in transition and half-court offense and showed that his maturation as a ball handler, driver and creator is taking him into that true combo guard mold. Holden scored an easy 10 points for the Wolverines in rout of Bishop Gorman.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956504' first='Joe' last='Sterling'] | 2026 | Harvard-Westlake

Sterling is simply a guy who can find a way to get a bucket. The 6-foot-3 senior, who recently committed to the University of Texas, missed his first five shots of the game but it never hurt his confidence as he went on to get in rhythm and finished with a game-high 29 points in a win over Bishop Gorman. Sterling is a real three-level scorer at the high school level with his off-catch and off-dribble three-point shooting ability as his primary weapons that open up his polished mid-range game. He's a matchup nightmare in the mid-post with his ability to score on isolation turnaround jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436275' first='Maxwell' last='Scott'] | 2027 | Corona del Mar

Scott is a bit of a hidden gem in the Orange County area but he made a strong statement in a win over Coronado. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is a lethal off-catch three-point shooter but showed that there is more to his game than that. The junior moves really well without the ball within the Sea Kings 5-out offense and it resulted in numerous back-cut layups. Scott also flashed some improved confidence with his handle and playmaking ability as a secondary ball handler. Scott scored 17 points in the win over Coronado.

[player_tooltip player_id='2349465' first='Oliver' last='Nakra'] | 2026 | Corona del Mar

For the first three quarters of the game, Nakra was relatively quiet as a scorer. The 6-foot-1 senior did his part as a game manager, decision-maker, press breaker and set up guy, but when the fourth quarter started, and the game got tight, Nakra went into scoring mode and recorded 13 of his 17 points in the final eight minutes, including three left-wing triples that ignited an otherwise stagnant moment in the Sea Kings' offense.
