Skills Summit: 2027 Stock-Risers

LA HABRA, Calif. — The 7th installment of the Hoops By Ugland Skills Summit brought together 117 players from across Southern California for a competitive one-day event at Sonora high school. The prospects spanned the classes of 2027 through 2031 and ranged from surefire Division 1 caliber recruits to those looking to put their name on the radar. Below we break down the seniors who boosted their stock.    Gapultos is a big time worker whose time in the gym working on his skill-set has paid off. The 5-foot-10 guard showed more confidence and comfortability handling the ball in open court and isolation situations which led to more off-dribble shot creating and shot-making throughout the event. Gapultos' pull-up jumper going to his left hand was his most consistent scoring weapon.     Sanchez has always been a prospect with tremendous offensive feel and basketball IQ which makes a lot of sense with him playing Corona del Mar's high octane offensive system. It was good to see him outside the Sea Kings' bubble because it showed that his basketball mind and playmaking definitely travel and make others better. Sanchez was cutting, driving, slashing, moving without the ball and making things happen for his team while taking and making the open catch-and-shoot threes that came his way.     Fisher has shown improvements to his all-around offensive skill-set since the last time we watched him during the high school season. The wiry 6-foot-5 wing looked more confident attacking space off the dribble and creating for himself and teammates in isolation situations. Fisher also stepped into catch-and-shoot threes with more confidence and was an impactful defender with his combination of length and anticipation.     Webb boasted one of the more impressive freams among players at this event with his combination of length and physicality allowing him to be an effective driver, slasher and finisher at the rim through contact. The 6-foot-4 guard showed isolation breakdown ability with a smooth, measured pace, used his length to extend to the rim and score on his drives and was a willing dirty work guy defensively and on the glass despite it being more of a showcase camp setting.     Kincy is a super smooth scoring guard who did the majority of his damage on the perimeter. The 6-foot senior used his consistent spot-up three-point shot to set up his off-bounce game which consisted of fluid pull up jumpers off the bounce. When given a small window of space, Kincy's ability to get his shot off quickly allowed him to generate and capitalize on fairly contested jumpers. Kincy is a microwave type of scorer who, once he sees a shot go in, can get hot in a hurry.     Northcott was a workhorse of a big man who stayed true to his position and skill-set in a setting that prospects often try to do things outside of their comfort zones. The 6-foot-6 forward/center was playing physically inside, competing on the glass and getting to a simple but effective right hand jump hook finish in the lane. Northcott showed flashes of perimeter touch, as well, when he spaced the floor off the catch to the three-point line.     Wansa was one of the toughest covers in the gym Saturday because of his combination of strength, physicality and a versatile offensive toolbox. The 6-foot-4 lefty got to any spot he wanted off the dribble with his frame and off arm serving as a stabilizer to keep defenders on his hip which allowed him to get to the rim and absorb, finish through contact. Wansa wasn't just a bully-ball guy, either, with his footwork off two feet and soft touch allowed him to score with finesse in the lane.
