displayed encouraging signs of his potential, where his imposing frame gave him a noticeable presence around the basket— where in this showing he brought hints of an interior dimension to the team whenever he was on the court, showing the ability to protect the rim through his strength and verticality and competing on the glass and use his size to win rebounding battles and extending possessions to create additional scoring opportunities on the offensive glass.

, while still an unfinished prospect with considerable room to develop, showed promising signs of becoming a valuable addition. With his imposing size, Fernandez proved to be a formidable presence inside providing an interior spark whenever he was on the floor— protecting the rim with strength and contesting shots vertically, pursuing rebounds on the glass and winning rebounding battles with his sheer size, and even demonstrating a willingness to embrace physicality on low post touches and using his frame to hold his ground and establish position inside, particularly distinguished by the traits highly coveted in developing bigs—nimble footwork, strong hands, and a solid overall touch around the basket.

Another promising piece in the state’s most talented sophomore class, Fernandez may not stuff the stat sheet for the Gray Bees right away but showed continued progression on Saturday and a sizable upside left to tap into. A hulking interior presence on both ends, he’s made positive strides in reshaping his body to increase his mobility and better keep up with the speed of the game. Transferring in from Great Barrington Academy (MA), Fernandez shows a deep natural arsenal in the post with strong hands, swift feet, and soft touch around the basket. As he continues getting in better shape, he’s finishing more consistently above the rim and has been able to work in some playmaking off the dribble while also working to expand his shooting range out to the perimeter. True big men always tend to take a bit longer to develop but Fernandez appears right on track to be a popular name on D1 boards in the years to come.

Fernandez, a forward out of Great Barrington Academy in Rhode Island, makes his first appearance in the rankings at #82. A massive prospect in this class, Fernandez does a great job of playing to his strengths and doing his best to own the paint. Offensively, he has good footwork on the block and the ability to turn over either shoulder as a scorer. His motor continues to develop, particularly as a two-way rebounder, and he also shows the ability to protect the rim by blocking and altering a high number of shots.

Among the more improved prospects in the region, Fernandez has gone from the obscurity of Rhode Island freshman-team ball to being a true force at the prep-school level within just a few months’ time. A hulking presence on the interior, Fernandez capped a strong weekend with an effective 18-point effort in a tight third-place win over Redemption Christian. He has soft hands and natural finishing touch over either shoulder, punishing single coverage with patient and efficient moves on the low block. The Dominican national showed glimpses of ball skills and shooting touch to develop over time, while looking more effective changing ends and protecting the rim after having cut close to 30 pounds from his frame. Being this effective already while still in the relatively early stages of development at his size, Fernandez appears to have a bright future with potential for the highest levels of college basketball if he continues on his current track.
