Colby Giacubeno | Prep Hoops Scout
Strong spurts from Olorungbohunmi on Saturday as he came off the bench to handle the controls of the offense as the primary ball handler. The sophomore guard has a stronger build than most opposing point guards thrown his way, so he’s able to handle pressure well not only with his quick bursts of speed, but also the bumps he can initiate to create some breathing room. He’s still coming together as a consistent playmaker as he adjusts to the speed in making those split-second decisions off the bounce, but got to spots in the mid range with efficiency and provided tough, physical defense from the point of attack for head coach Taj Hawkins.

-Came away impressed with the mental toughness to continue grinding through a weekend where there wasn’t a ton of team success. Olorungbohunmi averaged 15p 4r 1a 2s on the weekend while shooting 43% from the field and from 3 and 75% from the line. He uses a strong frame to bully his way to the basket, turns defense into offense by switching ends quickly, and serves as an invaluable switchable defender at the 15u level for his squad. He often found himself chesting up with bigs, rotating out to shooters, and guarding ballhandlers at the top of the key while playing pretty heavy minutes for his group.
