Class 6A Playoff Bracket Breakdown
We have reached the playoffs in Oklahoma! Prep Hoops will have coverage of all classes throughout the state. Today we start with Class 6A as we break down the bracket!
Toughest Regional?
Owasso
The Rams have had a great season under first-year head coach Brian Montonati. They were rewarded with a top-four seed on the Eastside of the state and a Regional Host. Owasso was rewarded with a very tough Regional starting with Muskogee a team that has played them within 10 points both times this season. The favorite to face Owasso if they get to the championship is Norman another tough opponent.
Most Intriguing Regional Final?
Putnam City West vs Sand Springs
Putnam City West was sent East this year giving us a likely a great cross-state matchup of Sand Springs and Putnam City West. Both are heavy favorites to advance in the opening round of the playoffs. West is led by talented 2020 Guard Rondel Walker who continues to impress. Walker is an all-around Combo Guard that makes others around him better. Sand Springs looks to veteran 2018 Guard Colt Savage. This year has not been perfect for Sand Springs, but they are certainly not a team to take lately despite some tough losses on the year.
The Favorites
Everyone knows the Favorites according to seed. The three teams I believe will advance easily 2-0 to Area play is Norman North, Broken Arrow, and Midwest City.
Upset Watch
Three teams that could catch fire in the playoffs in Class 6A disrupting the bracket are Westmoore, Muskogee, and Putnam City. For Westmoore and Muskogee, some would be surprised to see them make it out of the opening round. Putnam City has an opportunity to make a statement against Edmond Santa Fe if they can get to the Regional Championship game. Expect Class 6A to feature some upsets throughout Regionals, Area, and State as this year the Class features a ton of parity.
