Lindsey Updates His Recruitment
In the midst of his sophomore season, Mineral Point (Wis.) 2020 shooting guard Isaac Lindsey already holds three scholarship offers. A big moment in his recruitment occurred in December when UNLV became the first high major program to pull the trigger on the sharpshooter.
“It was pretty exciting to get one of those high major offers,” Lindsey told Prep Hoops. “I was with my family when I got it. It just gave me a lot of motivation to keep working.”
Lindsey was offered by assistant coach Rob Jeter, whose ties in the state of Wisconsin run deep. Jeter played at UW-Platteville, was an assistant coach at both Marquette and Wisconsin, and was the head coach at UW-Milwaukee up until 2016.
“They really think I fit how they play,” said Lindsey. “They like to run and they like how I shoot it. They feel I’m a nice offensive fit with how they run, having a scorer running up and down the court.”
Lindsey also has offers from South Dakota State and UW-Green Bay.
The 6-foot-3 sniper is coming off an unofficial visit to Wisconsin.
“Wisconsin grinds for everything they get,” said Lindsey. “They never settle for anything. That coaching staff does a great job of getting players ready. Them not having a great season doesn’t really affect me at all.
“I love what they do and how they play.”
Lindsey will head to Iowa on Saturday.
“Coach (Sherman) Dillard came down and watched me play,” Lindsey said. “They like my offensive style and my ability to be a leader.
“They’re excited for me to come out this weekend. I’m excited about the visit.”
South Dakota State also hosted Lindsey earlier this season.
“That place is pretty cool,” he said. “It’s a pretty cool atmosphere. Everyone in the community is invested in them. It’s a smaller place, but it’s like my hometown. Their facilities are super nice and they’re building more, adding to their practice facility.
“It’s a super nice place.”
Purdue, Oregon State, and UW-Milwaukee are also expressing interest this season. Lindsey is averaging 17.6 points per game for Mineral Point, who is currently 16-4 and sits atop the SWAL Conference.
Heading into the travel season, Lindsey is hoping to prove he’s more than just a shooter.
“One thing I need to improve on is my athleticism, my quickness, and my bounce,” he said. “That’s one thing I’ve really been working on, trying to get ready for this summer.
“I feel pretty confident on offense, but the big thing for high major schools is they want to see if I’m athletic enough.”
