Rivers lands at McPherson
The latest Oklahoma 2018 recruit to commit is Midwest City Point Guard Josh Rivers. Earlier this week Rivers announced on Twitter he was headed to McPherson in Kansas. Rivers cited feeling like home as the reason why he committed to McPherson. He added it takes a great weight off his shoulders knowing where he is headed after high school.
“The coaching staff and they made me feel like I was home,” said Rivers. “It feels great now I can play and not worry about trying to get a scholarship to play at the next level.”
Rivers has been a key piece in the Bombers success this season. The senior leadership has helped Midwest City be successful despite losing their top two players from a season ago (Keyshawn Embery and Jalen Redmond). Rivers is the best defender for the Bombers causing opponents havoc. He is averaging a career-high 11 points per game.
If Midwest City is going to get to the Class 6A state tournament Rivers will need to be a key part of their run. McPherson is getting a good defender that can handle the ball and run the offense effectively at the Point Guard spot. This year we have seen Rivers become better at creating offense for himself.
Rivers will be a guy that could end up being an All-Conference guy his junior and senior year for McPherson.
