With September rolling in, high school coaches can workout with their teams leading up to the season. Thursday afternoon I stopped by “The Dawg House” on the campus of Evansville Bosse to see what could be not only one of the best teams in Southwest Indiana, but one of the best 3A Teams in the state.

Coming off a 9-15 season with a relatively inexperienced squad, Coach Shane Burkhart has a team that is primed to win big this season. The Bulldogs return eight players with varsity experience from last season.

Key Returners:

•[player_tooltip player_id='2172596' first='Marrius' last='Harris'] 6'3” Senior Guard who was the leading scorer at 18.7 points per game, is poised to have a big year. He's a shifty guard with good length that can score efficiently.

•[player_tooltip player_id='2408663' first='Elijah' last='Chinn'] 5'8” Junior Guard is a microwave scorer that plays with a high motor. Deadly midrange game that stretches out to the three-point line. Averaged 8.4 points last season.

•[player_tooltip player_id='2489643' first='Elijah' last='Eastwood'] 5'9” Junior Guard was given high praise by Coach Burkhart during open gym. The scrappy lead guard was described as a winner and a guy that does everything right. He is a high level defender that competes every possession on the floor. Offensively he will be the table setter for this roster. He's a lead guard that impacts the game without scoring, though he's capable of creating shots for himself as well.

•Raymon Nelson 6'0” Senior Guard that just continues to improve at a rapid pace. Will be a guy that defends and will be able to hit open threes this season.

•[player_tooltip player_id='2489650' first='Landon' last='Hardy'] 6'5” Junior Forward wasn't at open gym, but with his size and length, he could be a starter this upcoming season. Good rebounder and a guy that brings a lot of energy with his hustle plays.

Key Additions:

•[player_tooltip player_id='1760994' first='Dorion' last='Bowen'] 6'6” Senior Wing is a transfer from Memphis Whitehaven. His combination of size and skill makes him the best player in the area. He's comfortable with or without the ball offensively. He's an unselfish offensive talent that scores at a high clip while also being a tremendous passer.

•Ethan Hampton 6'5” Freshman Wing/Forward has an extremely bright future. Mature game for his age, he will be asked to come in and be a finisher instead of a creator on this star-studded roster. Really good rebounder that reads the ball off the rim well. Plays with a high motor and has a good floor game that allows him to play out on the perimeter. Good looking jumper from the perimeter that will be relied upon to hit open shots when the opportunity comes.

•Luke Patterson 5'10” Freshman Guard may not get much varsity action this season, but the future is also bright for the 2029 guard. Left handed floor general that plays with loads of confidence.
