My annual Film Room series is back for another year! There were over 100 prospects who submitted High School, Grassroots, or Camp Highlights for review and all will be featured in an article on Prep Hoops. Check out my thoughts on the first group of 2028s and watch their film in the post from @AndrewBaxleySC on X (Twitter):

[player_tooltip player_id='2887652' first='Eugene' last='Robinson'] (Belton-Honea Path) - First up on the 2028 Film Room is [player_tooltip player_id='2887652' first='Eugene' last='Robinson']. Robinson's film came from the June Scholastic Period with BHP, including a stellar showing at the SCBCA Live Team Camp. He had frequent success with driving finishes, but also kept defenses off balance with efficient perimeter shooting. What makes Eugene such a tough matchup is his strong frame, which allows him to drive and finish through contact.

[player_tooltip player_id='2896365' first='Josh' last='Pendergrass'] (Sumter) - Pendergrass was a new name I learned in July, and one that will be a new addition in the upcoming 2028 Rankings Update. He excelled in transition on film, showcasing his excellent quickness and ability to simply beat other players down the floor. Josh is a good finisher at the rim because he can do so with both hands, at high speeds, and both around and through bigger bodies.

[player_tooltip player_id='1998734' first='Ayden' last='Leith'] (Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach) - Ayden is another Palmetto Pride Guard with a bright future. He has a thick frame and changes his pace very well. Leith takes care of the ball with a good handle that features a nasty left-to-right crossover. Ayden's film displayed scoring at all three levels, and as he develops consistency in it, he will turn into one of the best guards in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='2469364' first='Hunter' last='Collins'] (Heathwood Hall) - Collins will be at the upcoming Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Rock Hill, and he submitted highlights from the SCISA Live Event, which I didn't get to see live. Hunter looked really active without the ball in his hands as he caught defenders sleeping with cuts to the rim and relocated on the perimeter to create space. Hunter's positional size allows him to effectively shoot over and finish over defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='2533682' first='Chase' last='Marshall'] (Westwood) - Next up on the list is Westwood and Upward Columbia's [player_tooltip player_id='2533682' first='Chase' last='Marshall']. He is very active for his size, running the floor in transition and cutting to the rim in the half-court. Chase is a solid shooter who can create space for his guards to work, and makes really good passes from the wing and the post.

[player_tooltip player_id='2559433' first='Evin' last='Scott'] (Ridge View) - This was my first look at Scott, who could be a key piece for the Blazers down the road. At 6'2", he has very intriguing length, which allows him to be a versatile piece defensively. Evin deflects passes, picks pockets, and even blocks shots on the defensive end, while on the offensive end, he can create his own shot on the dribble without it feeling like the ball sticks to him.

DJ Slaughter (Ben Lippen) - Rounding out Part 1 of our 2028 Film Room is DJ Slaughter. Slaughter is a 6'5" forward who had a few short clips submitted for him. DJ has good touch on the inside, soft hands on the glass, and will also hit the occasional three. I've seen him play the middle of a 2-3 Zone on film and in person, and he plays it pretty well with good size and active hands.
