Prospect Spotlight: Savon O’Neal (2020)
Miamisburg has been arguably one of the top teams in Division I in Dayton this season. Upperclassmen have been the big reason for their success, however sophomore Savon O’Neal (2020) has been a huge help for the Vikings coming off the bench.
Averaging 6 points and 2 assists per game, Savon is a typical PG. He has tremendous speed and some of the best ball-handling I have seen this season. His shooting touch is not the greatest attribute however being a sophomore, he has plenty of time to improve on that. When it comes to on-the-ball defense, Savon is able to hang with some of the best, but his size will be an issue.
The Vikings have some younger players as well as O’Neal that make them a dangerous team for the future. Savon and company will have a chance to be a competitive team in the next few years. Although not an offensive weapon now, he can potentially become a star in the future. Currently, Savon has no offers or interest from colleges, but there is still time. Right now, I see him as a D3 caliber guard, but he could easily rise to an NAIA or D2 if he can improve on his shooting game over the next 2 seasons.
