PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2028 Sophomore ID Camp Preview

In this article:
The second-ever PrepHoops Sophomore ID Camp takes place at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA Sunday afternoon and returning to the scene will be a large group of rising sophomores from across the state, many of whom made an immediate impact on the Oregon high school scene as freshmen. A good amount of this year's attendees attended last year's Freshman Showcase to introduce themselves to us and are now back to show how they've grown and matured as prep standouts.
While out-of-town trips and injuries will prevent some of the very top players from the Class of 2028 from participating in this year's Sophomore ID camp, the number of top-ranked players who will be in the gym is plentiful. Leading the way are the current number two and number three ranked players in the grade, Benson's [player_tooltip player_id='2286069' first='Dreison' last='Malu Niko'] and Gresham's [player_tooltip player_id='2539808' first='Ter'rae' last='Foster']. Both became starters at their respective high school programs by the end of the season and ranked among their squad's leaders in various statistica categories. Some other players from the current 9-15 range will also be in the building such as #9 [player_tooltip player_id='2534572' first='Jonah' last='Munns'] from West Salem, #11 [player_tooltip player_id='2539809' first='Victor' last='Jackson'] from Jefferson, #12 [player_tooltip player_id='2539779' first='Jae'lyn' last='Smith'] from Reynolds, #14 [player_tooltip player_id='2485547' first='Jamarea' last='Sanders'] from Roosevelt, and #15 [player_tooltip player_id='2539806' first='Sufyan' last='Carter'] from Wells.
As always, the city of Portland and the Portland Metro Area are well represented on the rosters, but prospects from as far as Bend, Eugene, and Medford, will also make the journey to Beaverton to participate notably top-ranked ones such as #17 [player_tooltip player_id='2460163' first='Treyson' last='Hill'] of Thurston and #20 [player_tooltip player_id='2539769' first='Damon' last='Keith'] of North Eugene. The Class of 2028 still has an extensive watchlist so many of these players will get an opportunity to move into the numeric part of the rankings. A full list of attendees and their team assignments can be found here.
The showcase will take place from 3-7 pm and spectators are free to attend. College coaches will be in attendance and games will also be streamed on BallerTV.
PrepHoops Oregon scouts Jed Tai, Andrew Gill, and Jackson Naugle will be on hand to watch and will provide both live updates via Twitter and further analysis with articles in the week following the event. Be sure to stay tuned for full coverage.
