Freshman Showcase: Final Thoughts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We had over 50 members of the class of 2029 come to Louisville Saturday to participate in our annual Freshman Showcase. While I was stationed on one court nearly the entire time, I did not get to see every player who came to camp. Here are some closing thoughts on the prospects who were in attendance last week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saint X is LOADED in the 2029 class! Very athletic, Jabir was consistently dunking with ease all day. Unfortunately, he also didn't get across half court on a lot of possessions. If Walker gets a motor, he can be a D1 prospect eventually. There were some very impressive stretches for Jamari on Saturday. He sometimes settled for step back threes or other more difficult shots when he should have continued attacking the rim. Don't be surprised if Saydee is a top freshman in the Derby city.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Frankfort has a really good Freshman group. I've already written at length about [player_tooltip player_id='2921335' first='Rajon' last='Floyd'] but also saw [player_tooltip player_id='2890726' first='Noah' last='Geveden'] make some impactful plays. Cam has great size as a Freshman wing scorer and did impress in my short viewings of him. I'd like to see more of Cam because if he keeps growing, he's going to be a top prospect. Frankfort will be extremely young this season but that's a good things for development of the kids who were at camp Saturday. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2029 rankings are up in the air at this point. While guys like [player_tooltip player_id='2851845' first='Mason' last='Grivna'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2880415' first='Ty' last='Bryant'] are certainly at the top of the class, there appears to be several prospects that could be long term sleepers. He's barely 15 years old and has a chance to be a big time impact player, long term. He should serve as a quality backup to Junior [player_tooltip player_id='2522623' first='Luk' last='Tut'] this season at West Jessamine. If he continues to develop, Peter is nowhere near what he could be but is productive right now and should get better. I would love to see [player_tooltip player_id='2851845' first='Mason' last='Grivna'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2906291' first='Peter' last='Patterson'] go head to head, eventually.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
