3A Southern Region: First Look

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Green Valley Christian will be moving into the 3A Southern Region this upcoming season. Coach Rolwing's squad is young and they like to play at a fast pace. The Meadows School - </em></strong>The Meadows School went 19-8 last year. They made it all the way to the 3A Southern Region Semifinals, however they ended up falling to Mater East Academy 73-37. Although they lost, their young talent showed a lot of promise. They return [player_tooltip player_id='2280840' first='Uzo' last='Nwapa'], [player_tooltip player_id='2050108' first='Ethan' last='Fink'], [player_tooltip player_id='1817875' first='Grant' last='Moses'], [player_tooltip player_id='2806804' first='Ryan' last='Kirk'], Caden Campenella, [player_tooltip player_id='2447899' first='Alex' last='Hutchison'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2812186' first='Patrick' last='Lewis']. They will also likely have [player_tooltip player_id='2695186' first='Benjamin' last='Chilton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2695258' first='Ethan' last='Schneiderman'] on the roster, who are both adequate shooters. Considering they have more experience and depth than just about every other team in the 3A Southern Region, they certainly appear ready for a state title run. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>2. Boulder City - </em></strong>Boulder City had a very successful regular season last year. They went 20-7, but they then got upset by Virgin Valley in the playoffs. 2025 guards Sean Pendleton and Lucas Wright were the main scorers, and there are big shoes to fill in their guard spots. But the Eagles do have some underclassmen who have been waiting in the wings. [player_tooltip player_id='2263759' first='Tre' last='Armstrong'] should get a crack at varsity, and they also have 2027 forwards [player_tooltip player_id='2263758' first='Branch' last='Danko'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2280933' first='Levi' last='Randall']. Who will give them a big upper hand when it comes to rebounding and protecting the paint. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>3. Virgin Valley - </em></strong>Virgin Valley was just a little above .500 last year, going 15-11. They graduated a few seniors as well, but both [player_tooltip player_id='2812171' first='Drew' last='Dixon'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2277065' first='Elian' last='Pinto'] will be back. The duo will likely make up their backcourt and I would also guess that they'll be generating a good amount of the offense for the Bulldogs. If they can get some of their 2027's and 2028's to contribute, (like [player_tooltip player_id='2348529' first='Corban' last='Waite'])They'll be a tough out. At the moment I predict that they'll make the playoffs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>4. Moapa Valley - </em></strong>Moapa Valley is currently fourth in my preseason "Power Rankings". Senior, [player_tooltip player_id='2806773' first='Jaxson' last='Bunker'], looks to lead the way for them. He was their top scorer last season, averaging 16.2 PPG. Although the scout may be out on him, I think he'll still have a very productive season. The Pirates also have Caden Rawson, who could be a breakout player for them. Right now, I think they have less experience then other teams. But it's only August, and there is still plenty of time for their young guys to keep improving. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>5. Green Valley Christian - </em></strong>Green Valley Christian will look to make some noise in their first season in 3A. I got to watch them a couple of times last year, and there is no doubt that they can fill it up on offense. But they may feel some growing pains on defense, as some of these other 3A teams have decent size. If they can limit opposing teams in the paint, and take care of the ball.
