This past weekend trainer Julian Boateng hosted several players for a day of games, training and skill work. He invited several players from across the state. Here are the standouts from the event.

Charles Barnes Marist 6'6 2026

Smooth lefty forward had some strong crafty finishes at the basket. Shot it well from three but was more efficient with his patented turnaround fadeaway from the mid post. Barnes is starting to play with the confidence we saw from him earlier as a player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2127973' first='Austin' last='Carlsen'] Wauconda 6'6 2027

Carlen is a player with size who shoots the ball well from three. When I first saw Austin he was around 6'2 as a sophomore and oh what a year because he grew to 6'6 now. His size and length with the ability to make shots with consistency will be huge in his ability to be recruited the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125688' first='Tray' last='Alford'] Yorkville Christian 5'11 2027

Alford is a deceptively quick guard who made a living getting to the basket and finishing layups on fastbreaks and in the half-court. He is a creative lead guard who knows how to place the ball for cutters when they are slashing. It will be a productive year learning from [player_tooltip player_id='1874810' first='Jayden' last='Riley'].

[player_tooltip player_id='2950351' first='Thomas' last='Carter'] Fremd 6'4 2027

Carter is a thicker guard with good size at 6'4. He showed some athleticism on the break and his shot was good from the mid-range out to the three-point line. The handle was serviceable for a player who can earn a scholarship in a year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2391672' first='Jeffrey' last='Hassan'] Kaneland 6'9 2027

It was the second week in a row that I was able to observe Hassan. He is still very aggressive as a shot blocker and was quite a load on the boards. He has to be accounted for at all times on both ends of the court. In the paint he showed some improvements in the post, scoring off a jump hook and two-handed flush.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125578' first='AJ' last='Enyia'] OPRF 6'8 2027

AJ is long and athletic with a solid skillset. He moves well with the ball driving to the basket and finding ways to score. He has good fluidity on the wing and can easily switch between a post and perimeter player. Made a few shots that showed he's been in the gym working on that part of his game. I expect a big year from AJ.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125682' first='Sean' last='Reese'] Glenbard South 6'1 2027

Sean is a guard who brought toughness to the games. His defense disrupted play often. With his strength and size for a guard Reese moves his feet well and always shows active hands. Showed a nice shooting motion on his shot. One of the players you take because he's willing to do all the intangibles.
