Ohio Freshman Showcase: Team 6 Standouts

Shot contests didn't bother Sheffield when he went up thanks to his ability to hang in the air and acrobatically finish at the rim. Sheffield also showed the ability to knock down floaters when he got downhill but wasn't going all the way to the rim. Not rushed on the ball, Brendel had impressive poise for an incoming freshman, attacking as a wing guard off the ball. Brendel finished off euro steps, jump stops and one-foot finishes in the paint, going to whatever move was most comfortable on each individual drive. Brendel also knocked down a couple 3-pointers as well. George made a contested catch on a cut that allowed him to gather himself under the rim and easily score early in the 5 on 5 session. With a strong frame and the ability to play through contact, Swift does an excellent job bumping into the defense first and setting the tone on drives that he's the aggressor. Nobody could stop Swift from getting into the paint and the lefty did a nice job of scoring efficiently once he got to the rim. As the day went on I also saw more perimeter shooting from Swift, getting to his spots and rising up for mid-range buckets. Casanova had multiple and-1 layups, finishing through contact at the rim. The ability to knock down 3-point shots is such a valuable skill at the high school level because it makes it easy to play next to ball dominant older players because you can space the floor and score off their drive and kick ability. Sheffield showcased his perimeter shooting on Saturday and has a skill that eventually should allow him to contribute at the varsity level for a strong Dublin Coffman program.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
