I was impressed with Sheffield’s scrappiness as a rebounder, getting some tough boards against much taller defenders. Sheffield was also clutch as he knocked down the game-winning free throw to wrap up a 5 on 5 victory to open the camp. Sheffield also had some nice splits of the defense off the dribble and had a pickpocket steal that led to an and-1 layup. Not going to blow you away physically but Sheffield just got stuff done on the court and has made noticeable improvements in his skill level and confidence since I saw him at our freshman showcase a year ago.
Sheffield had a quick first step on the ball and used a variety of finishes at the rim to score. Shot contests didn’t bother Sheffield when he went up thanks to his ability to hang in the air and acrobatically finish at the rim. Sheffield also showed the ability to knock down floaters when he got downhill but wasn’t going all the way to the rim. Impressive finisher for his size at the rim.
