One of the most exciting things about AA basketball is seeing the new faces emerge every year. Sure the top prospects are always at the front of the attention and we all know who they are, but what about the guys behind the smoke, the slower developers, or the younger guy that had to wait his turn for an upper classman to graduate, etc. Well this article starts to focus on the guys who maybe got some court time last season, but weren't expected to carry as much of the load. Now it's time for these guys to rise up, settle in, and gain the exposure they have been working and fighting for. Take a look at just a few of my Players to Watch this season as they step out of support roles, and into more of the spotlight.

Myles is an absolute menus on defense. He will clamp down the opposing PG and seems to always find the passing lane to pick off a pass. What equally as impressive as his defense, is his ability to make the right decision when pushing the break. Nour know when to pull the ball back out and get his team in a set, or when to use that sweet euro he has to finish at the rim. I look for his outside scoring presence to pick up this season as he continues to get comfortable at the varsity level.

Owen put up some nice numbers at times last season for the Kernels hovering around that 8-9 points per game mark several times. He did a nice job guarding the opposing teams number 2 and 3 scorers. Raml will be counted on more this season to bring a more consistent offensive presence as well as be able to step into that lock down defender spot up top. From what I can tell, he has all the ability he needs to seamlessly fill those areas of need for Mitchell this season.

Jack brings a long body and wing span the floor that will frustrate any passer he plays against. Mack does a nice job of pushing the pace when it's there, or finding the open teammate for the better look. Jacks's ability to cast the long ball will be counted on a lot more often this season.

6'4 Shooter! I really like how Ben always has his feet set and his hands high as he moves around the arc hunting his shot. He's ready to shoot or get downhill at all times. His release is quick and he can fill up a scoring column fast. Ben hit 5 from deep against Tea Area last season. Sprecher was a must for this article of Players to Watch.

Anderson joins an absolutely stacked roster in Huron and definitely has been flying under the radar a bit due to just that. At 6'5 Porisch runs the floor well and can find his shot, both from deep and is good for midi off the bounce. He's also very solid on the boards and does nice job of attacking the ball as it comes off the rim. Keep an eye on Anderson and his Tigers this season as they will be a handful.

Luke is a 6'1 bucket. He's a great scoring PG that can get his points at all 3 levels. His court vision is next level and making the right read seems easy for Swanson. His athleticism is top notch as his speed, quick feet, and strength help him excel on the court. I expect the Eagles to look his way a lot this season.
