On Friday and Saturday, I attended the NEPSAC Showcase at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. There were four courts going on at once and games going from 8:00am to 9:00pm. Though I tried to watch as many games and teams as possible, I didn't get to see everyone — so my coverage this weekend will be reflective of the games I saw.

Fitzgibbon comes from Brewster Academy and will get a much more significant opportunity to play for his new squad at Brimmer. The 6-foot-3 combo guard can play both on and off the ball; he has a great looking three-point shot but also attacks closeouts decisively and is a fundamentally sound driver to the hoop. He's also an excellent help-side defender and fights his behind off when guarding stronger, bigger players. He looks like he's still developing physically, but I would bet Fitzgibbon plays some serious minutes for Brimmer next season and looks pretty good.

Blackburn really impressed in his first weekend with Worcester Academy (after coming from BB&N). The 6-foot-6 wing was actually playing a lot of small ball five and really impressed me with his ability to defend big men and fight for rebounds on the glass. He also played well as a post hub and threw some really nice backdoor passes. He'll really excel with Jenkins and Haley, two point guards who love to push the pace and set up their teammates; Blackburn is a freak athlete and should have a field day in transition with Worcester.

Wooley is coming from Minnesota and will be a standout player on Choate this season. The 6-foot-9 forward has tons of guard skills, which allows him to get rebounds and immediately handle it in transition, and he can also shoot it from both the mid range and three. He even had a really aggressive drive to the hole where he bodied the defender and still finished with contact. The Yale commit should definitely be one of, if not the best, Choate players this season.

Gretz comes to Phillips Exeter from Newburyport High School, where he was a star public school player. The 6-foot-5, strong bodied power forward can shoot the lights out and needs barely any time to get it off --- he can even catch-high-keep-high in situations where bringing it down wouldn't allow him to get one up. His strong body allows him to guard big men and compete on the boards, too, which will help a Phillips Exeter team that isn't too big. He should be a key player for them this season.

Azor transferred in from Tilton school and should immediately step into a starting role (or at least heavy minutes) for NMH. The 6-foot-2 combo-guard has the ability to play both ends of the floor and showcased a lot more passing chops than I knew he had. He normally shoots a ton for Team Northeast in AAU, but he was finding teammates for kickout and kick-ahead passes consistently this weekend. He also defends his position super well and is a pest on that end with some really good hands. I bet he'll be a D2 or high D3 player.
