The Double/Double Crew!
Clover Gardens HS Sophomore Forward/Center Mylyjael Poteat: Before you even watch him play, you can just take a quick glance at his numbers and I’m pretty sure you will be impressed. Currently he is averaging 20 points, 11 rebounds and almost 5 blocks per contest on a squad that has compiled a 9-2 record up to this point. He plays the game under the rim and has a nice soft touch and IQ for the game, his game and body structure reminds me a lot of Oliver Miller back in the 90’s, very talented young man.
South Central HS Sophomore Forward Dayron Sharpe: His stock continues to rise on almost a daily basis and we can see why, at this point he is averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds per game. Personally, I got my first chance to see him play at the Eastern Regionals Finals and although he was only a freshman it was clear how much potential he had to be special. He can score it, rebound at a solid rate, protect the paint, etc. Although he is far from a finished product, you have to love his upside and D1 programs have taken notice.
Fayetteville Academy Junior Forward/Center Emmanuel Izunabor: The amount of progress he has made, since he came to America a few years ago has been special. His game has become more fluid and the amount of time he has spent in the weight room has helped in a major way. The ability to play inside is where he is most effective but he has worked on knocking the midrange shots as well, currently he is averaging 11 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks a night.
Grace Christian Junior Forward Julian Steinfeld: He hasn’t been in the country for a very long time but at 6’10, and nice upside you can see why he is one that we want to see more of. Currently he is averaging 12 points and 14 rebounds per night and will only get better with more time on the court, expect a bigtime season from him his senior year.
West Columbus High School Junior Jake Brownlee: Jake has been absolutely dominate throughout the season so far, he is currently averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds per night as his squad is 11-1 so far. The energy and enthusiasm that he plays with an on nightly basis to go along with a strong physique and athletic ability will grab your attention almost immediately.
Heritage HS Junior Forward/Center Jayden Gardner: Jayden is performing just how we thought he would before the season started, he is averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds a night while leading his team to an 8-4 record. At only 6’7 he is smaller than the majority of players that he’s faced with but he plays the game with such a high motor that during the game you would forget he’s at a height advantage, currently he is committed to play for ECU next season
