Prospect Spotlight: 2019 Tim Adetukasi
“London Calling” is a famous song that emerged in the 1980s by a punk rock band, The Clash. “London Calling to the faraway towns. Now war is declared, and battle come down.” Lyrics from the infamous song that rocked the US in 1980 upon it’s release. In Southern California scouts are “calling” England’s finest Tim Adetukasi a beast in the paint area with war-like intentions when he is playing.
The 6-foot-6 junior, who thrusts his 215-pound chiseled frame on opposing defenses, possesses a high motor and a relentless passion for this game, despite only playing for three years.
“My size, strength, and ability to attack the rim whenever operating in the paint, is definitely a strength of my game,” noted Adetukasi.
Adetukasi is a beast at this level. After taking in Adetukasi’s game at the North Orange County Championships as well as the North/South Orange County Championships his strengths were spoken loudly. He pursues the ball at both ends and has a natural instinct to rebound in and out of his area. He also shows the ability to take his game outside depending on his matchup.
“I look at my defender and attack that match up depending on what my advantage is on that particular play.
“I see myself as a perimeter player at the next level, so I want to continue to develop my guard skills,” explains Adetukasi.
Being a native of England, he has also had to adapt to the different style of basketball that presides in America. “The game is played at a much faster pace and the players are much quicker than what I’m accustomed to being from Britain,” explains Adetukasi.
Despite his production, he knows there are areas of the game that he needs to improve upon to take his game to a new level.
“My coach (Tom Lewis) tells me I need to slow down and not rush my offense which leads to missed opportunities,” explains Adetukasi.
Saddleback Valley Christian has a talented squad that also includes skilled 6-foot-10 senior Jordan Taylor, knock down shooter 6-foot-3 junior Jon Scherer, and lightening fast point guard 5-foot-10 senior Jonah Tolmarie, but Adetukasi was a much-needed piece as he provides the moxie and interior force that is needed to make a deep run in the CIF Playoffs.
