NEXT Middle School Camp Texas: 2030 All-NEXT Team

There was an exciting amount of talent out in Frisco yesterday and the future of Texas high school basketball can rest assured that it's in good hands. Below are the top performers from the 2030 class - players you'll definitely want to keep on your radar.    Riley is a clever, sharpshooting combo guard that can surprise a lot of people with his talent. He's a solid ballhandler that thinks through his next steps and stays impressively poised under pressure. He's a skilled passer and can identify the thinnest of lanes to capitalize on and get his teammates easy opportunities. He can catch absolute fire from mid-range and beyond the arc and he's developed an incredibly accurate rainbow shot to soar over even the tallest of his defenders. He's active on the glass on both ends and he has great footwork. He's able to make good, quick decisions on the floor and he uses the glass nicely to ensure he gets the best look at the basket with every attempt. Cordova was one of my favorite players I saw throughout the day and I think he has massive potential if he keeps putting the work in and focusing on his strengths.     Brandon is a speedy, gritty combo guard that had multiple standout moments during his games. He's all over the floor in the best ways - racking up steals, diving after loose balls, finding his cutters with strong, smart bounce passes, and piling up buckets throughout. He's not afraid to sacrifice his body and put himself on the line for his squad - I saw him take a handful of charges throughout the day and create multiple turnovers for the opposition, which is AMAZING to see at the junior high level. He's a smart, tough player - always aware of the clock and not afraid of any sort of contact. He's strong and puts in nice work in the paint and can also catch fire from beyond the arc. He's got great, quick hands and a fantastic all-around game. Wilson was another one of my favorites I saw on the day and I think his potential is sky high.     Malachi is a smart, talented two-way guard that has a fantastic all-around game. His form on his jumper is beautiful and he's patient with his decisions, which allows him to consistently seize the best opportunities for his team. He's an excellent ballhandler with wonderful footwork and can create off the dribble or drive and kick to a wide open teammate with the attention he attracts from defenders. He never hangs his head or moseys - he's always hustling down the floor with a next play mentality. His crossover leaves opposing ankles sore and he has a nice finger roll he likes to utilize off the drive. I expect Grayson to make plenty of noise entering his high school career and in the days leading up to it.     Cayden is a confident, skilled point guard that is a force on both ends of the floor. He's got great shooting form and doesn't hesitate to let it fly when he has a nice look at the rim. He's an intelligent passer, often placing the ball where only the intended target can get hands on it. He's a talented ballhandler and uses that ability to work his way into spots that are nearly impossible to defend. He's an absolutely tenacious defender - one of the best I saw on the day - and he'll eagerly press his opponent the entire length of the court and make their day increasingly difficult. He's a nice finisher on the fast break and he's vocal on the hardwood, which is great to see at such a young age. He can also clean the glass on both ends and cleverly draw contact to get extra trips to the free throw line. Jones has a ton of potential and I can't wait to see it come to fruition.     Kayden is a lengthy, fearless point guard and was one of the best players I saw throughout the day. His talent was easy to notice from the start - he caught my attention during warmups and only impressed more as the games progressed. He's got a beautiful up and under move in the paint and he's unbelievably hard to defend for his opponent. His confidence seems endless and he's a talented ballhandler that can finish at the rim with either hand. He can easily create his own offense if needed, but he also has the patience to slow the game down and identify the best opportunities for his teammates. He has the ability to take it the entire length of the floor himself or if he spots one of his bigs hustling down the court, he'll reward them with a beautifully placed full-court pass for an easy bucket. Williams is going to garner a ton of attention going forward and it's well deserved.
