In the opening game of the day, it featured Denmark-Olar HS vs Bethune-Bowman HS. The Denmark-Olar HS Viking set the tone early leading 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Vikings would take that lead into halftime locker room leading 25-25. The Mohawks of Bethune-Bowman got the game to 44-41 with 5:44 left in the game. The Vikings would eventually pull away again and capture the Lower State Championship Game 63-49. The Vikings have not been in the State Championship Game since 1990.

Goodman and Hinton Lead the Way:

[player_tooltip player_id='1225770' first='Joshua' last='Goodman'] and guard [player_tooltip player_id='1951732' first='Terance' last='Hinton'] both seniors are saving the best for last. Goodman and Hinton both scored 21 points apiece here today. Goodman did his scoring the ball from all 3 levels on the floor today. Joshua played aggressive attacking the rack and scoring the ball at the rim. He provided some three-point makes to go with his arsenal today. The UNSIGNED Goodman has really made his presence felt all season long for the Vikings and after being named Class 1A Player of the Year.

Hinton a left-handed guard really excels in the getting the ball to the cup and scoring in transition. Terence plays the game quick up the floor and likes to work in some floaters along the way. Hinton is a bit of a pest at times with his overall toughness and grit on the floor.

Ross and Brimfield Fight Foul Trouble:

[player_tooltip player_id='2207706' first='Tykeem' last='Ross'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2786503' first='Nyheem' last='Brimfield'] both fouled out of the game here today for the Vikings. Ross barely played over 8 minutes it seemed today before fouling out with 4:47 left in the game. He finished the day with just 3 points.

Brimfield a very promising freshman added 6 points off the bench but was saddled with foul troubles also all day. He finished the night at the 1:12 left mark of the game.

Mohawks Trio Does There Best:

The Trio of [player_tooltip player_id='2211021' first='Terrance' last='McFadden'], Kaden Woods and [player_tooltip player_id='2211022' first='Bryson' last='Robinson'] did the best they could to keep Bethune-Bowman HS in the game. McFadden an undersized junior post plays his game on contact inside the paint. Terrance works for everything he does down inside the paint when it comes to grabbing rebounds, collecting putbacks, battling for position and using his body. He has soft hands to catch anything thrown his way. Terrance finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds today in the loss.

Woods a left-handed senior guard finished the night with 14 points. Kaden was able to drop some three-pointers along the way.

Robinson just like Woods played his last game in a Mohawks uniform this time around. Bryson has great length and a good body for the next level. The long and rangy wing player likes to settle a little too much at times with his shot. Bryson finished the night with 13 points.

Bovain Brings Energy:

[player_tooltip player_id='2786502' first='Robert' last='Bovain'] really lacks a true position on the floor for the Denmark-Olar Vikings. The one thing you make sure to do is play him. He rebounds the ball extremely well from his position and just brings so much effort to the floor at all times. Robert hits the glass on both ends does what the team needs him to do.

Panthers Defeat Hornets:

In the nightcap from the Florence Center last night. Abbeville HS defeated C.A. Johnson HS 58-46 to advance to the State Championship Game on Thursday March 6, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. The Panthers move to (23-2) on the season while the Hornets finish the year at (19-11).

Baylor Has Big Night:

[player_tooltip player_id='1848143' first='Jaden' last='Baylor'] a junior for the Panthers finished with 27 points in the win tonight over C.A. Johnson HS. Baylor was able to showcase some good perimeter shooting and a willingness to finish at the bucket through contact. Jaden overpowered defenders at times on the way to the rack with his good body control. Baylor has a thick frame to showcase when he's on the hardwood or the football field for the Panthers.

Hornets Suffer Through Bad 3rd Quarter:

The Hornets trailed 24-21 at the halftime break. Abbeville outscored the Hornets 12-1 the first 4:16 of the 3rd quarter trailing 36-22. The Hornets had to look to get back into the game.

McCray and Odom Lead the Hornets:

[player_tooltip player_id='2149135' first='Milton' last='McCray'] finished the night with 13 points while [player_tooltip player_id='1848632' first='Tony' last='Odom'] added 11 points. Both of these underclassmen will be back in the mix next season for the Hornets. Milton started off extremely hot in the first quarter by scoring 11 points. The Hornets will be a team to watch out for sure under the leadership of Robert McCray in the years to come.

Panthers Just Throw Out Bodies:

[player_tooltip player_id='1892777' first='Justin' last='Rollinson'], Altavious Patterson, [player_tooltip player_id='2887660' first='Jaylen' last='Baylor'], [player_tooltip player_id='2418911' first='Jamerion' last='Williams'] and off guard Darius Riley are all names that contribute to this Abbeville Panthers lineup. Rollinson a guard really does a nice job of finding the open man and changing directions with the ball in his hands.

Patterson a Newberry (SC) Football signee is a load in the paint. Baylor really plays the game wherever needed for the Panthers. Williams a freshman point guard plays with good poise for his young age. Riley was able to hit some big shots down the stretch.
