Atlanta Hawks Naismith Classic Top Games
Norcross High School will be home of the 1st Annual Atlanta Hawks Naismith Classic and will be from Dec. 21st to Dec. 23rd. It will be the host of girls and boys. Programs like Norcross, Tift County, Newton, Sandy Creek, Holy Spirit Prep, and more. Here are the top games you can expect below.
Buford vs Shiloh – Dec. 21st at 6pm
This matchup will feature two of the top players in the class of 2019 in the state of Georgia with 2019 SG Marcus Watson of Buford and 2019 WG Elias King of Shiloh. Both kids are the star of their teams and will put on a show at the Naismith Classic at Norcross. Watson is a 6’6 guard/forward who can power it down once he gets room in the lane. Marcus can also shoot the rock very well. By now we all should know Elias King & know that he is a pure scorer and can score from anywhere on the floor. Fun matchup on store for day one of the Naismith Classic.
Mount Bethel vs Holy Innocents – Dec. 22nd at 4pm
A lot of people have not heard of Mount Bethel. The Eagles are the 2017 GICAA defending state champs and will be bringing all their fire power back to the squad. Headlining the roster is 2020 F Jordan Meka. Jordan already has offers from a few D1 programs. He is a force in the paint , especially on the defensive end and will be hard to put points on the board with him down low for Holy Innocents. Holy Innocents brings back an experience squad from last season featuring 2019 WG Alex Hyatt and 2019 F Todd Ennis.
Grayson vs Discovery – Dec. 22nd at 6pm
Grayson vs Discovery will be a great matchup between two programs that have been on the rise in the state of Georgia the last couple of years. Grayson features Charleston Southern commit 2018 PG Travis Anderson. Anderson is a play maker on the court for his squad and is one of the underrated players as well. Discovery has a star of their own in Old Dominion commit 2018 F Kalu Ezikpe. Kalu can finish around the rim and is not afraid of the physical play. We will definitely see a few elite guards playing in this one as well.
Duluth vs St. Francis – Dec. 22nd at 8pm
Duluth and St. Francis will end day 2 of the event and will tip off at 8pm. There has not been much buzz around the explosive back court of 2021 PG Madison Durr and 2020 SG Dwon Odom of St. Francis. These two can possibly be in the conversation of one of the best backcourts in the state of Georgia one day. Durr is a lockdown defender on the defensive end of the floor and can finish and score in transition. Dwon is one of the most explosive guards in the state and is a bucket getter. The matchup between him and 2018 CG Adam Flagler of Duluth will be the main matchup to watch in this one.
Meadowcreek vs Sandy Creek – Dec. 23rd at 2pm
This matchup will be one of the top matchups at the event and will be played on day 3. The Meadowcreek trio of 2019 WG Jamir Chaplan, 2018 WG and Detroit commit Corey Hightower, and 2018 F and Duquesne commit Amari Kelly will be facing 2019 WG TJ Bickerstaff and 2018 PG Jarred Godfrey and Sandy Creek. The Meadowcreek squad has had one of the toughest schedules so far in the state of Georgia and it gets even tougher this week. The Mustangs has some top wins over some good squads this year with wins over Gainesville and defending class 7A state champs Tift County. TJ Bickerstaff of Sandy Creek can be put in the conversation of the top 10 players in the state of Georgia with his abilities to score and make an impact on the defensive end. Not much has been said about Bickerstaff this year but that can definitely change.
Holy Spirit Prep vs Norcross – Dec. 23rd at 8pm
We have a great matchup in store to end this spectacular event. Two of the nations best players in the class of 2020 will go head to head. Norcross, if you have not heard already, features 2020 SG Brandon Boston. Boston has a really high IQ on the court on both ends of the floor. He makes the right decisions for his squad and can also put the ball in the basket. Holy Spirt Prep features 2020 SG Anthony Edwards. Edwards has not had as much buzz around him this season as of yet but he definitely deserves it. He can score in bunches and is able to lock in defensively. Both squads have a national schedule and have played the best of the best so far into the season. This will be a fantastic game to end the first annual event.
