There were a number of remarkable individual performances around the state last week as we head into the holiday break. Below we take a look at eight of the top Class 3A showings from the third week of action in a series that we plan to continue throughout the year, hopefully without too many repeats!

2025 SF [player_tooltip player_id='1759905' first='Luke' last='Frazell'] (Waverly-Shell Rock) -- 44 points (13-17 FG, 8-11 3P, 10-11 FT), 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals, 1 block [vs. Cedar Rapids Jefferson]

Frazell tied a school record for the Go-Hawks with his 44-point outburst against Jefferson, showcasing his ability to dominate the game as a three-level scorer. With his size and pure stroke, he's really, really difficult to slow down once he sees one or two go through the net.

2025 SF [player_tooltip player_id='2617473' first='Ayden' last='Gibson'] (Glenwood) -- 33 points (13-22 FG, 3-7 3P, 4-5 FT), 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block [vs. Harlan]

A long, lanky wing who is enjoying a bit of a breakout senior year for the Rams, Gibson was dominant against the Cyclones, dropping 33 points on efficient shooting and showing his ability to score from anywhere on the floor. He does a nice job using his long strides to cover a lot of ground on both ends of the floor, and his shot is really difficult to contest with how high he is able to release.

2025 PF Josef Briesemeister (Mount Vernon) -- 26 points (10-15 FG, 0-3 3P, 6-7 FT), 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks [vs. Solon]

In a rivalry game against Solon, Briesemeister was dominant in the paint, controlling the glass on both ends of the floor and scoring efficient around the rim. He has soft hands and good touch around the bucket, and he was great on the defensive end against the Spartans, turning away three shots and impacting the way that Solon could attack the Mustangs.

2026 SG [player_tooltip player_id='2731871' first='Gustavo' last='Drahos'] (Perry) -- 26 points (10-21 FG, 3-10 3P, 3-7 FT), 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals [vs. Boone]

It seems like a different Perry player is on this list every week, with Drahos being the latest addition. He scored in bunches in a narrow loss to the Toreadors, showing that he can do a bit of everything on the offensive end.

2026 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2731750' first='Eli' last='Patterson'] (Benton) -- 25 points (10-19 FG, 1-3 3P, 4-6 FT), 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals, 2 blocks [vs. Vinton-Shellsburg]

The 6-4 junior helped the Bobcats head into the holiday break with some positive momentum, as they went 3-0 last week, including this impressive outing against Vinton-Shellsburg. He uses his size well on the glass, highpointing the ball and pulling down contested rebounds, and he finishes well around the rim.

2025 SF Brock Watson (Clarke) -- 23 points (10-16 FG, 0-2 3P, 3-8 FT), 18 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block [vs. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont]

A 6-3 wing who can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end, Watson was elite on the glass against the Rockets, pulling down 18 boards from his wing position while also scoring in bunches to help deliver the first win of the season for the Indians.

2025 PG [player_tooltip player_id='2511484' first='Luke' last='Welbes'] (Wahlert Catholic) -- 12 points (6-12 FG, 0-1 3P, 0-2 FT), 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals [vs. Iowa City West]

The heart and soul of a Golden Eagles team that has been one of the best in 3A to start this season, Welbes stuffs the stat sheet on a nightly basis and did so again in a big win over an Iowa City West team that has a chance to make some noise in Class 4A. He's a tough-nosed guard who doesn't shy away from contact, and he loves to set his teammates up.

2027 PG David Tokheim (Des Moines Christian) -- 17 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3P, 5-9 FT), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 9 steals [vs. Pella Christian]

Tokheim is making a significant impact on the Lions as a sophomore on both ends of the floor, using his speed and athleticism to impact the game. He's a downhill, attacking guard offensively who puts constant pressure on his matchup with his ability to blow by and get to the rim, where he's an adept finisher. And on the defensive end, his quick hands and feet make life difficult for opposing ball-handlers, as evidenced by his nine steals.

There were a number of remarkable individual performances around the state last week as we head into the holiday break. Below we take a look at eight of the top Class 3A showings from the third week of action in a series that we plan to continue throughout the year, hopefully without too many repeats!
