Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Making the move up from Delaware as a repeat junior from Early College HS, Lawrence-Mumford is more of a long-term bet but shows the foundational tools and development trajectory that give hope it’ll pay off at the end of the day. While still a work in progress, he’s blessed with elite length and fluidity for his size, showing natural timing and technique as a shot-blocker within a confined role that’s projectable toward the D1 level. He shows flashes of touch offensively both at the rim and out to the midrange, with workable hands and timing while playing off of his guards. He’ll have a lot of opportunity to be in the gym and play through mistakes over the next couple years which could pay off in a big way if he’s able to continue putting the pieces together.

Lawrence-Mumford projects as being among the wild cards in the Friends League race this year if George School is to make a move up the standings in head coach Chris Harris’ second season at the helm. An emerging rim-runner by way of Early College (DE), he stands out immediately with the type of size, length, and athleticism that D1 programs tend to look for in the frontcourt. He’s a natural shot blocker with solid timing and technique protecting the rim while showing a workable set of fundamentals as a finisher near the rim offensively. The Delaware product is certainly still on the raw side and has work to do to begin adding strength to his frame, but the path is there for him to blossom into a potential D1 big within a more focused developmental environment.

Although growing into his body is like trying to hit a moving target, Lawrence-Mumford is more agile and active overall on the floor. It’s evident in how quickly he’s able to get off the ground to block shots, to rebounds, and to catch lobs for dunks. His touch has improved too. Lawrence-Mumford now has flashes of an outside game that can begin to accent his effectiveness around the basket.
