Cornerstone Returns Talented Roster
Cornerstone lost Jamal Cain, one of the top players in the state, to graduation. It’s time for the next generation of Cornerstone players to rise to the top. In 2017-2018, they return a very talented and youthful roster.
Da’Mon Gilmore (2018, 6-1, SG):
He’s a silky smooth shooting lefty who has one of the purest jumpers in Michigan. Gilmore plays through contact and finishes strong at the rim. He’s also very active on the glass. As one of just two seniors on the team, he has become a vocal leader. The Cornerstone coaching staff continues to work with him to improve his movement without the ball.
Alante Coward (2018, 5-11, PG):
He’s an elite passer who can always find a teammate. Coward can score by taking the ball to the basket through contact or by utilizing his dangerous midrange game. He’s dangerous in the lane because of his ability to finish with either hand. Coward is a leader on the defensive end and thrives when he’s on the ball. He is working to improve consistency from three point range.
Jalen Young (2019, 6-3, SF):
This young man can flat out score. He gets buckets in a variety of ways. Young is great in transition and finishing at the rim. He can also utilize an efficient midrange game. Young plays bigger than his height and is a solid rebounder on both ends of the court. He is trying to get more accurate from deep.
Cordairo Miles (2021, 6-4, SF):
This kid is wise beyond his years as a basketball player. Miles is incredibly active and has a very high motor. He’s a weapon defensively because of his ability to get deflections and steals. Miles uses his motor on the glass as well, making him a strong rebounder. He is working to develop his jump shot.
Isaiah Driver (2019, 6-6, Small Forward/Power Forward):
This young man can play the game at all three levels. His true strength lies beyond the arc. Driver has made some strong improvements to his game. He has developed the ability to finish at the basket in traffic and has turned himself into a threat on the glass. The Cornerstone coaching staff is working to develop his ability to put the ball on the floor when teams take his jump shot away.
