Prospect Spotlight: Jake Jensen (2018)
Copper Hills 6-foot senior Jake Jensen is at the helm this season as the starting point guard for the Grizzies, and is hoping that by season’s end he has some recruitment coming his way.
It doesn’t matter the size of the school, or the level, any college opportunity is something the senior floor-general would relish.
“About recruitment, it’d be awesome to be recruited,” said Jensen, who’s had none come his way so far. “I’m fine with flying under the radar, but it’d be nice to go play college hoops somewhere, even if it was a really small school.
With a defense-first mentality, and an adept jumper, Jensen could turn some heads this season. He defined his skill-set during a recent phone interview with PHUT.
“One of my best strengths is defense, coach will put me on the other teams strongest guy. And I can shoot pretty well. My ball-handling is a little iffy,” said Jensen.
“I need to work on handling pressure, like full-court press. And on defense, I think I need to get more hands on.”
With his senior season Copper Hills now underway, Jensen is enjoying his increased role as the team’s starting point guard. He was sixth-man last season as a junior.
“It’s been going pretty good. I’ve been pretty happy with how I’m playing; I’ve hit some big shots gotten some rebounds, and I’m really running the floor, getting some assists. Compared to last year, I’ve really upped my game,” said Jensen.
“Some expectations are to help my team get to state. We’ve played some teams tough that have won it the past two years. And I just want to be a scorer for the team, and break the school record for rebounding from a guard.”
