As the IHSA season starts next week I compiled a list of talented senior guards that should be on college coaches recruiting list. Here is a look at those players.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291830' first='Javerion' last='Banks'] (Warren) 6'1

Banks is a gamer. Energetic guard who can do multiple things from the guard spot. He's a three-level guy who has good touch from both three-point and mid-range. When getting to the rack watch out below because he will put you on a poster.

[player_tooltip player_id='2321399' first='Rae'Qwon' last='Rogers'] (Bowen) 6'1

Physical guard who can score with the best of them. He shows great body control in the air to finish plays. Rogers has improved his shot from three but is more of a headache to cover on fastbreaks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617460' first='Willie' last='Felton'] (Bishop McNamara) 6'1

Maybe one of the better unknown guards in the state. Felton is a high-level passer who could have a mixtape alone with just his assists. As a scorer, he's effective off the bounce and has a good touch on floaters and pull-up jumpers. Major sleeper in the class in my opinion.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105218' first='Payton' last='Edwards'] (Bloom)

I think Edwards is the most underrated guard in the state. A hard-nosed guard who just gets things done. His toughness on the court is unmatched. A lefty guard who wants to guard the best player and lock them down. As a scorer, he has an old school game and can get to the basket with unorthodox moves. Could have multiple offers after a JUCO stint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1766465' first='Ikee' last='Brooks'] (Rich Township)

The lightning-quick guard was sidelined most of the summer with a leg injury. He has quick twitched speed with the ball in his hands. Can get to his spots using shifty handles. Mid-range shot-maker when defenders add pressure. Brooks also has good instincts on defense having active hands and anticipation in the passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385290' first='Amari' last='Edwards'] (Kenwood) 5'10

Another shot-making guard who missed the travel season due to injury. State champion who transferred to Kenwood. Excellent passer on the move and can play on and off the ball. Has deep range on the shot you must pick him up once he crosses past half-court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385286' first='Derek' last='Bishop'] (Mundelein) 6'2

Physically strong upper body who can score on and off the ball. He's strong at getting downhill and scoring in the lane using either hand to finish layups. Off the ball he's a terrific catch-and-shoot guard who knocks it down when given just a slither of space. Has low D1 talent but can easily fit with the right D2.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598681' first='Daniel' last='Loza'] (Lake View) 5'11

Quick on the break with the ball in his hands Loza has blazing speed as a lead guard. His biggest attribute is shooting. He has NBA range on his shot and is a threat when anyone is at arms length away. Daniel plays with passion and hardly ever takes a play-off.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617451' first='Ryan' last='Clemons'] (Homewood Flossmoor) 6'3

An explosive player who made a name in our events the past spring and summer. Ryan is an athletic guard who plays hard on both sides of the ball. He is good off the bounce when driving the lane but is even better in transition when the pace is being pushed. He likes to go up top and dunk any chance he gets. If he can't he has terrific body control and can score while taking a bump.

[player_tooltip player_id='2452415' first='Brad' last='Johnson'] (Curie) 6'4

Johnson is a bigger guard who kind of does a little bit of everything. He's a tough competitor that shoots it well from the line. Brad is a dependable defender who rebounds and covers multiple positions well on switches.
