The Expo: Oregon took place this year at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA and many of the top in-state players and beyond took the court to compete against one another in some very spirited competition. Fellow scout Ryan "Remo" Morgan and I had the opportunity to watch much of the action from start to finish, and after sharing our own notes and conferring with a number of other observers in attendance, we have come up with our All-Showcase Team.

The lone Division I commit in attendance, Barron honestly really didn't even need to attend but the fact he played indicated how much of a competitor he is. As expected, the Barlow senior absolutely dominated the competition at the Expo for the second year in a row, pretty much doing it all by throwing down dunks off drives, knocking down perimeter jumpers, and protecting the rim as a shot-blocker. Not much else to say other than Portland State certainly got a good one in the early signing period.

Spafford played on the same team as Barron and the two became arguably the top one-two punch as they seamlessly worked together on a number of plays. As he's done throughout the camp scene this fall, the Putnam senior proved himself with his floor leadership as he capably and unselfishly shared the ball to find open teammates for scores just as much as he did damage with his lethal outside shooting. This helped him be the only point guard named to All-Showcase Team.

A late addition to the Expo, Byas was for sure a good one. Using his length and athletic 6-foot-6 frame, the Rosemary Anderson senior made his presence felt on both ends of the floor and was seemingly always around the basketball. He was aggressive attacking the hoop and getting buckets around the hoop, but also showed a great touch on his shot, especially from the corners. With some added strength, his ceiling is high.

Aulakh was one of the best run-and-jump athletes at the Expo. Constantly moving, the 6-foot-5 wing flew down the court in transition for easy dunks but also showed patience in half-court settings, either taking his man off the dribble or showing off a smooth shot from beyond the arc. His athletic potential and upside were of intrigue to the college coaches in attendance. Formerly at North Medford, Aulakh is now at Rosemary Anderson Prep.

We had not heard of Tannaci before the Expo but we certainly know now and the state better be ready for the new South Medford Panther. The 6-foot-5 swingman showed a great feel for the game, capable of hitting shots when they were given to him or attacking off the dribble and getting to the rim. The former Yreka (CA) standout was aggressive without being out of control and had a good motor on defense as well.

Griffin may have been the top scorer at the event. In his team's very first game, the 6-foot-5 wing pretty much did whatever he wanted to do offensively, whether it was drain threes, take his man off the dribble, or fly in to throw down dunks in transition - easily finishing with over 30 points. The Rosemary Anderson prep senior wing was very creative with the basketball creating his own shot, was capable of scoring through contact, and made plays at the rim on both ends of the floor.
