Henighan provided a spark for his Hollows Elite team. He turned defense to offense by being in lanes to come up with steals. He converted scoring chances on a few occasions and showed that he could extend the floor with his ability to hit a three. Henighan has no issues making hustle plays.

Arguably the most intriguing long-term prospect for E&S, Henighan bounced back from a 3-point performance in the second round to shake loose for 17 points as the Engineers’ main source of secondary offense. A capable slasher, Henighan did his damage instead as a jump shooter, spacing the floor off the catch with a smooth, quick release on his way to knocking down five 3’s. Henighan also showed a clean one-dribble pullup game while staying within himself off the dribble and staying active with his length on the margins. His ability to impact the game in different ways as a rangy wing should give him traction at the scholarship level over the next year.

In a thrilling sudden-death win over Abington (PA), Henighan was effective throughout while showing notable progress overall as he continues to grow more comfortable in his new surroundings after transferring from GFS this summer. With more talent surrounding him than in the past, the lanky wing guard has settled into a nice role as an off-ball scoring threat and secondary playmaking option. On Saturday, Henighan kept his foot on the gas but while showcasing a smooth, measured pace off the bounce that combined with his size to allow him to consistently see and make the proper read. He looked comfortable as a spotup shooter from the arc while also using his length to make plays on D and get out in transition. Henighan looks to be making the proper strides towards the scholarship level if Saturday’s game was any indication.

Earlier this week Henighan announced that he is departing Germantown Friends and enrolling at Engineering & Sciences. Thus, this weekend should be his first runs with his new squad, and I am eager to watch how he fits alongside E&S point guard

. In my opinion, Henighan and Brown should click immediately as Henighan’s ridiculously accurate three-point shooting should create space for Brown’s dribble attacks on the paint. Henighan’s ability to run to a spot on the fast break and then drain a three will add a new wrinkle to the E&S transition game too. When defenders close out too quickly on Henighan, he will put the ball on the floor and get to his mid-range spot or all the way to the glass for a lay-in. He is especially effective on baseline drives. E&S fans will be pleasantly surprised by Henighan’s work on the glass.

Henighan exploded onto the recruiting scene this winter with games of 36 points (5 triples) against Engineering and Sciences as well as 22 points (6 threes) versus William Bodine. Obviously, Henighan can make it rain from deep and he proved that again on Saturday. His ability to run to an open spot along the arc in transition and then quickly get his feet set for shot is impressive. If opponents managed to chase Henighan of the arc, he put the ball on the deck and got to his mid-range spots or all the way to the rim. When Henighan was the recipient of double teams, his court vision and high IQ enabled him to defeat those doubles with a quick pass to an open teammate. With his deep offensive skill set, Henighan’s contributions on the boards are often overlooked. His length and nose for the ball make Henighan a plus rebounder at both ends.

It can be easy to lose sight of Henighan as he plays second fiddle to one of the most prolific scorers in city history, but the young swingman boasts an enticing skillset in his own right that feels ready to grab more attention as an upperclassman. He catches the eye immediately with his length, but goes on to show a well-rounded dribble/pass/shoot skillset for a wing his age. Still in the early stages of his physical development and very young for his grade, it looks like more a matter of “when” not “if” Henighan starts to really come into his own.

#54…This athletic and wiry 3-point ace is posting a breakout sophomore campaign. Over the last two months Henighan poured in 36 points (5 triples) against Engineering and Sciences, 22 points (6 threes) versus William Bodine and 20 points (2 threes) against Episcopal Academy. Henighan’s deep range, quick release and non-stop off-ball movement make him incredibly difficult to guard along the arc. When he is not splashing treys, Henighan can get to his mid-range spots off the dribble and fill a lane on the fast break. Henighan is an underrated rebounder too.
