Talented shooting guard with good positional size at 6’5”. Chase Kasten got going in front of me in the last two games of the scrimmage portion and was quite impressive showing not only his outstanding perimeter shooting, but loved his overall feel on the offensive end. Plays at his own pace. Has a good handle that allows him to get downhill. Showed he’s a willing passer when the defensive helped he was able to find open shooters. Thought he really competed on the defensive end of the floor. Solid rebounder and was able to guard and contain multiple positions at his size.

Lengthy shooting guard that I’m extremely intrigued with from the tape that I’ve gotten to see. Explosive athlete that is a knockdown shooter with a smooth stroke. Excellent getting open off the ball. Really good creating his own looks in isolation. Three-level scoring ability. Lethal three-point shooter that can also put it on the floor. At 6’5″ he has the ability to rise up over defenders in the midrange as well as getting all the way to the basket with the athleticism to finish above the rim. Length and athleticism makes him an impact on the defensive end on the ball, as a rebounder, and in the passing lanes.

Chase is an ultra-talented shooting guard whose skills were on full display throughout session III. Chase nearly averaged a double-double with points and rebounds this weekend and showed why he’s a top prospect in Illinois. Chase is a true scorer who efficiently hits shots from beyond the arc but can also use crafty footwork to finish at the rim as well. He is also a solid on-ball defender who uses his length to his advantage by constantly tipping passes and disrupting offenses. Chase is certainly set to have a phenomenal junior season.

Chase Kasten is a playmaker who consistently takes advantage of open lanes, driving hard to the rim. He protected the ball well, often driving into double teams and kicking it out to open wings. Kasten flashed a soft midrange jumper and confidence from beyond the arc. Overall, Kasten looked like a guard who read opposing teams’ structures well and made quick decisions.

The most productive player on the court, Kasten impacted the game in a variety of ways from the wing position. Able to operate as the ball handler in pick and roll situations and turn the corner to beat the hedge defense, Kasten showed patience and used his length to extend at the rim and finish. Being guarded by smaller wings, Kasten found success running the floor and catching it on the block and scoring at the basket. In the second half with the Illinois Wolves 16 U group looking to extend their lead, Kasten came from out of nowhere for a monster chase down blocked shot. Impressive all around performance from him on Friday evening in a win.
