With the spring and summer AAU season coming to a close, sooner rather than later the 2024-25 high school basketball season will be just around the corner as we quickly approach the fall. Schools and coaches will prepare their student-athletes for the fun and competitive season ahead all over the six states in the New England area. In this School Team Preview series, I hope to highlight individual teams in the region and give insights on which players I expect to make an impact in the upcoming season. Let's get started!

Team: New Hampton School (NH)

Head Coach: Andrew Gale

2023-24 Season Record

30-10

The Big Dogs on Campus

There is a trio of seniors I expect to make a major impact on the Huskies. Headlining the group is the impressive talent of [player_tooltip player_id='2317310' first='Keyshuan' last='Tillery']. The athletic guard looks to be the offensive juggernaut for the squad, using his quick first step to attack the rim and also showcasing his outstanding shooting off the dribble and ball-moving instincts. [player_tooltip player_id='2317323' first='Mason' last='Blackwood'] should also make an instant noise for New Hampton at the forward position. Bouncy and agile, he's got great advantages finishing at the basket and his active rebounding makes him a threat for putbacks and second-chance baskets. The last of the group is forward [player_tooltip player_id='1588347' first='Will' last='Goode'], whose interior scoring should pay immediate dividends. With great touch around the basket and the ability to stretch the floor, his offensive prowess should be utilized well in the Huskies offense leading to great results.

Additional Difference Makers

Four other players should be very important for the Huskies this upcoming year on a loaded and deep team. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2341338' first='Ty' last='Tabales'] is a knockdown shooter from both off the catch and off the bounce. Confident and unafraid, he brings an additional ball handler to the table for offensive creation along with quick twitchy hands in the passing lanes on the defensive end. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2325876' first='Naz' last='Meyer'] is another scorer who can create his own shot and play off others effectively. He can light it up from downtown off the ball, while also creating his own shot in the mid-range adding to New Hampton's offensive powerhouse. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2341362' first='Jayden' last='Harrington'] can also space the floor and who needs little time to get his shot off. With great relocation skills, he can find open shots and connect on them without having the ball in his hands to do it. Junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2341404' first='Chad' last='Cook'] brings a big body and an inside presence that is much needed. With good touch and quicker feet than you may expect, he can zip up loose ends on the offensive side while punishing opponents on the defensive side with his strength advantage.

Underclassmen To Keep an Eye On

There is one underclassman in particular to watch next season for the Huskies. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='1707498' first='Blake' last='Bastani'] is an additional shooter who should get a lot of opportunities in the bench unit. With a lightning-quick release and a pure stroke, he should be effective off the ball for New Hampton and get some opportunities to handle a little bit in some scenarios to show off some of his creation upside for the Huskies while also competing on defense.
