When it came down to winning time, Tillery completely took over the game and put the New Hampton squad on his back, and it was honestly pretty amazing to watch. The 6-foot-1 senior got into the lane and finished with contact again and again with absolute ease; left hand, right hand, high off the glass, etc — it didn’t matter. He also punished the defense going under the screen by hitting a few massive three-point shots. He showed some serious ice in his veins, as he has many times throughout this prep season and his high school career, and that’s just something you can’t teach at any level of basketball.

Tillery is an absolute spark plug. He’s ridiculously quick with the ball in his hands and jolts to the rim like very few other guards can, often showcasing athletic finishes with both hands at the hoop. When he wants to, though, he can also play at his own pace in the pick and roll; he does a good job at getting the defender on his back and making the correct decision for himself or his teammates. Defensively, the Cincinnati commit is virtually un-screenable and has very quick hands to pair with it. He’s a joy to watch.

His first step and blazing speed were uncanny, and just ran by the helpless defenders getting easy buckets and racking up points for his New Hampton squad. He leveraged the extra pressure put on him during his appearances by driving and kicking to open teammates and hitting pull-up threes in the flow of the offense. Additionally, he made a great steal in the passing lanes, competed on the boards, and unleashed a sick crossover dribble move that left the crowd speechless. Cincinnati should be stoked locking him in during the early signing period.

Tillery ended his recruitment when he announced that he will attend the University of Cincinnati. A high level athlete that has turned himself into one of the country’s best floor generals, Tillery is the ultimate competitor on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he has the ability to be a lockdown defender at the point of attack. He moves well laterally, has quick hands, and isn’t afraid to sit in a stance and guard the full length of the floor. Offensively, he has great burst with the ball in his hands and the ability to stop and change direction on a dime. He gets into the paint at will and does a good job of picking his spots as a scorer and facilitator. He’s really worked to make his jumper a strength and now knocks down shots with the ball in his hands and off the catch. This is a major recruiting win for Cincinnati as they land one of the summer’s top stock riser in Tillery, a prospect who should be capable of leading a Big 12 offense from Day 1.
