Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Meyer took over in the middle part of the game with a number of incredibly tough shots. He’s one of the best tough-shot makers in the region; he’s able to shoot without much balance and often fades away on his release, giving himself some extra wiggle-room to get the shot off. He also goes from dribbling to gathering and getting a shot off SO quickly, which also allows him to make some crazy ones. Meyer is another phenomenal two-way talent at the wing position for New Hampton, and he’s going to succeed at the next level as a result of his versatility on both ends.

Meyer had one of the best dunks I’ve seen this season on a 7-foot big from STM in the second half of this matchup. He’s an amazing athlete with great size and length, and he pulls it all together with the ability to score from all three levels. Especially impressive are his fadeaway jumpers in the lane; I’m not usually a fan of these shots but he’s shown he can knock them down consistently and is able to shoot without his body being on balance. Meyer seems college ready to me, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him play meaningful minutes at Wyoming next year.

Meyer impresses me more every time I see him play. In the beginning it was his athleticism and three-level scoring ability that popped, but recently I’ve loved the way that he does all of the little things on the court. He takes great pride defensively – constantly sliding his feet and getting his hands on the ball – but he also fights his behind off for offensive rebounds. For such a talented scorer and athlete, it’s rare to also want to do the things that don’t show up in the stat sheet, and Wyoming will love that Meyer does all of those things. Big time competitor.

I get higher on Meyer every single time I watch him play. He doesn’t really have an offensive weakness, as he’s able to create off the dribble and score from the mid-range and three but also cut super well off the ball and find holes in the defense. I also like his passing and think it continues to improve. Defensively, Meyer was a deflection machine against Vermont Academy, constantly getting fingertips on balls and making extra efforts when they mattered most. The Wyoming commit continues to impress me and make me a believer that he can play right away next year, which would be quite an accomplishment. Big time player.

Meyer is a freak athlete who had some really ridiculous finishes at the rim this weekend. He elevates and takes contact so well in the air, and he has enough body control to still finish amongst the big men waiting for him. And, although he has an unconventional sideways rotation on his shot, he’s able to make it semi-consistently from both the three-point line and inside the perimeter. He’s also a great cutter in terms of understanding timing and spacing. The Wyoming commit is going to make his college coach very happy with his ability to defend multiple positions and be used both on and off the ball – he has some swerve to his game on the ball that should only improve with more reps and time.

was a scoring machine during the National Prep Showcase with his ability to create offense for himself with the ball in his hands. He loved getting into the mid-range and creating separation to get into his off-the-dribble shot-making. He was driving to the rim with the ball while also cutting to the basket when he was playing off-the-ball, leading to tons of easy-point opportunities. He also showed off his athletic gifts by taking off from the line and slamming the ball home with authority. Lastly, he made some sweet passes within the New Hampton offense which kept the scoring output with him and his squad, which led to winning results. Wyoming should be pleased to receive his commitment.

Meyer finalized his college plans when he committed to the University of Wyoming. A wing that can really score the basketball, Meyer plays with a confidence and smoothness to his game that isn’t often replicated at the prep level. He’s a gifted scorer that knows how to create seperation off the bounce, finishes with creativity and either hand in the paint, and does a good job of spraying the ball to shooters off his own drives. He has a nice looking jumper and has shown the willingness to leverage his shooting to open up driving lanes. Defensively, he’s a solid defender on the perimeter, capable of moving his feet to stay in front of smaller guards and also walling up forwards in the paint. Wyoming scored a win in getting an early commitment from Meyer, as the versatile prospect has the ability to develop into one of the top two-way wings in the Mountain West.
