Now at Robbinsdale Armstrong, Javaun is stepping into a much bigger role for his senior season. We’ve seen him in the AAU season where he’s contributed as an energy guy with length and bounce at 6’4, and last night was a lot of the same from Javaun. He started off a bit slow in the first half, but got going as the game went on, finishing off a handful of looks at the rim with his left. Javaun ran the floor hard in transition, was high pointing the ball for rebounds, and flashed a nice face up game out of the post. Defensively he blocked a pair of shots and showed the agility at 6’4 to defend a number of spots on the floor.

He may not catch your eye with flashy plays, but Javaun simply goes out and produces for this Real Phenom team. At 6’4 he can play out on the wing, or act as a small-ball forward, and he seems to always be in the right space at the right time for a teammate to find him around the basket. Whether he was beating his man with a backdoor cut, sprinting the floor in transition, or crashing the offensive glass, Javaun found ways to earn touches around the rim, and those touches often resulted in two points. When you combine Javaun’s level of effort and athleticism into a 6’4 frame, you get efficient production.
