2018 Player Rankings: Baltimore Prospects Part 7
Dwight Felton | 6’0 | Mt. Carmel
Previous Ranking: Unranked
New Ranking 93
Felton earned his slot in our rankings from his performance throughout the St. Paul’s Summer League and the Top 250 Expo. Felton is a savvy point guard that understands what his team needs throughout the course of a game. He has good strength and quickness to help get into the paint and create open perimeter shots or dump passes for baseline runners. The six-foot floor general is a clear leader and communicates well on both ends. Felton has been garnering interest from Division III programs.
Seth Jones | 5’10 | Poly/Cecil Kirk
Previous Ranking: 93
New Ranking: 94
Jones dealt with a shoulder injury over the summer that he is now 100 percent back from. Jones is a scrappy guard that can knock down the long ball, which are the characteristics that have become vital to being a consistent-playing point guard in today’s game. Jones wasn’t the first or second option for the Engineers last season, but whenever his number was called throughout a game to hit a big shot, he came through. He will be fill a vital role for Poly this season as they look to repeat as the 3A state champions.
Brendan Medley-Bacon | 6’11 | Archbishop Curley/Team Melo Red
Previous Ranking:95
New Ranking: 97
It’s hard not to spot Medley-Bacon whenever he walks into the gym considering his height. He is still a work in progress in terms of overall game, but he is without a doubt a presence in the paint for disrupting opponent’s shots. He continues to improve his finishing around the rim and his ability to run the floor.
Trayon Wright | 6’0 | St. Paul’s/Maryland 3D
Previous Ranking: Unranked
New Ranking: 99
Wright had a productive summer for Maryland 3D and for his varsity team in the St. Paul’s Summer League. The floor general is a solid pick-and-roll operator and does a nice job reading weakside rotations as he penetrates towards the paint. Wright is also an efficient finisher around the rim. He continues to improve on his outside jumpshot, which is probably the biggest blemish in his game. Defensively, he is relentless and moves his feet well laterally. He’ll look to lead the Crusaders to back-to-back MIAA B Conference titles this season. Wright is hearing from a number of highly competitive Division III programs.
Will Miller | 6’0 | Mt. Carmel/Charm City Crusaders
Similar to his backcourt mate Dwight Felton, Miller had a nice showing in the Top 250 Expo this summer. Miller is one of the best outside shooters in the city off the catch and shoot. What has been most impressive has been his improvement as a point guard. Felton will play the majority of minutes as the point guard for the Cougars this season, but Miller knows at the next level he’ll be expected to contribute as a floor general because of his size. Defensively Miller does a good job of pressuring the ball and being active in passing lanes. Miller and Felton will form a dynamic backcourt in the MIAA/BCL and will look to lead the Cougars back to the title games where they lost last season.
