We will begin highlight our All-State teams this coming week and ultimately announce our Prep Hoops Indiana Player of the Year the Sunday following next weekend’s State Finals. For now though, here are the five finalists for the 2024 Prep Hoops Indiana Player of the Year award.
This Purdue signee will play for a Class 2A state championship on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as his Brownstown Central Braves take on the Wapahani Raiders. Benter continues to climb the IHSAA all-time scoring list and scored 38 points in the Semi-State championship game.
Highlights
Bidunga, a Kansas signee, capped off an outstanding three-year career at Kokomo High School with a third straight Sectional championship. The Wildkats reached the Semi-State in his sophomore season, were state runner-up his junior year, and then lost to Fishers in the Regional this season. The 6’9″ five-star center finished with 1,609 points and 1,132 rebounds in his illustrious career. He is one of the best prospects we’ve had come through the IHSAA in two decades.
From a “best player on the best team” standpoint, Garner deserves a mention here. The Tigers spent a good portion of the season at #1 in the rankings and have a chance to cut down the nets at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. Garner’s statistics might not stand out the same as the other nominees, but he put up 16.1 points and 8.3 rebounds for a Fishers team that is currently 28-1.
One of the top scorers in the state, Mullins lead Greenfield-Central to the Sectional 9 championship game with an undefeated 24-0 record before falling to New Palestine. Mullins was limited greatly in that game due to a significant back injury. The four-star guard averaged 25.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game for the Cougars.
Highlights
From a numbers perspective, it is hard to argue against this 6’8″ four-star prospect in the Class of 2025. Sisley finished the season averaging 24.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game while leading Heritage Hills to a 19-win season.
