Blake is a power-wing who excels at getting to the rim and making plays off two feet. Against a Gain Elite team that was looking to play fast, Blake stayed under control and played the game at his own pace. Nothing flashy about his game, Blake simply waits for a gap to open up, and he explodes into it to get into the lane. Once there he has the patience and footwork to play off two feet and create angles to finish. Broad shoulders help him absorb contact while still converting at the rim.

The patience and positioning Jones uses as a scorer really stand out. He’s got good size and often uses that to his advantage in the low-post, but his ability to take you off the dribble or score from the perimeter provides extra challenges for the defense. Jones has high-level ball security and makes good decisions when he’s in the paint. The forward also has good mobility, helping him make an impact defensively.

Blake was one of the top overall players I saw over the weekend. At 6’2 he had a strong frame with some size inside, but also possessed a versatile skillset that allowed him to contribute just about anywhere on the floor. He delivered a couple of deep outlet passes off of defensive boards that would make Kevin Love proud, and was also displaying impressive vision out of the high post to find teammates cutting to the rim. When scoring on his own he could attack from the wing, or use his strength to get deep post position before finishing with his left hand. Swiss army knife type of forward who can go out and contribute in a number of ways.

Blake was dominant in the day’s opening game, as Owatonna just didn’t have a player to match his physical 6’2 frame inside. Blake found success getting to the rim off the dribble and out of the post, and was finishing just about everything inside. He’s more than just a scorer too, as he dished out some impressive assists throughout the game. One saw him launch a full court outlet pass to a teammate, while another saw him thread the needle with a bounce pass to a backdoor cutting teammate. Does a great job of leading his teammates with passes to the rim.
