While it’s not a district match up, it’s the only regular season meeting this year between the Moore school district rivals. Westmoore would build a double digit lead in the first half and look set to coast to victory. But Southmoore was able to get the deficit within single digits in the final frame, before Westmooore would eventually hold off the rally for the
It was a star making performance for the sophomore as he did it all for the Jaguars. He was locked in from distance, hitting four times. One of them he was even cool and collected move to pump fake a close out, take a side dribble and drain the three after the defender flew by. It wasn’t just three point shooting that powered his explosive scoring day, he went baseline early in the second quarter for an powerful two handed slam. And overall was an efficient finisher around the rim.
What made Antwi-Donkor’s performance even more special was how he played on the defensive end. Southmoore has quality and skilled, off the dribble scorers. The sophomore has a plus wingspan and used it to often limit the damage done off the dribble. His hounding on the ball defense forced turnovers and Southmoore into tough shots in the first half. Which allowed Westmoore to build a substantial lead. Along with his on the ball defense, he was also active off the ball, using his long wingspan and instincts for steals and deflections.
Antwi-Donkor is continuing to turn his potential into production, adding even more depth to what looks to be a loaded Class of 2026.
Loper had a good all around game, with his biggest moment coming to close the second quarter with a pair of great transition takes. He went coast to coast in the closing seconds with a big score that capped Westmoore’s dominating first half. Outside of that, he was rock solid, rarely making any mistakes. Playing quality and disciplined, “move your feet” defense. A key part of that, is he plays stronger than he looks with his physicality and balance. Those traits also appear on the offensive end with drives and creating space to hit in the mid-range.

The lefty point guard did a little bit of everything to help keep Westmoore running and deliver the win. His biggest” winning play” moment came with about two minutes left and all the momentum shifting in Southmoore’s direction. He stole an inbounds pass and raced to the other end for a score that halted a run and would help the Jaguars weather the storm. It was a good representation of the solid play by Loper. He was able to get to the rim consistently in the first half, where he finished with either hand. Including some nifty switch hand finishes in traffic. The junior even splashed a few jumpers, including one nice 15 foot stepback jumper in the third quarter.

Ledbetter remains one of the better scorers available in the Class of 2024. The senior mixed in deep threes throughout the contest and remains sneaky dangerous off the dribble. His compact frame allows him to play strong on drives, which pairs with a good first step. There’s little wasted motion in his dribble, even when changing directions. Which is something he should continue to lean on, quick and decisive moves to get downhill and pressure the paint. Ledbetter also has a “low man” wins type ability around the rim, which helps him as a finisher.

During Southmoore’s 4th quarter rally, Brammer was at the heart of it. He has a fantastic off the dribble game for his age, with an ability to seemingly chain together moves across possessions to set up defenders. One such example came during the fourth quarter run, when one possession he set up the defender and ended up shooting a turn around from near the free throw line. The next time down, he went into a similar move but this time blew by the defender to get to the rim. The sophomore continues to have strong scoring performances with a great combination of handle, shooting touch and playing at his own pace.

The freshman guard provided a spark in the fourth quarter, he’s a pesky defender who harassed the ball. Even jumping an inbounds pass for a steal, which he then handed out a nice dime. His scoring contribution came when he showed deep range on a three. Southmoore has a very promising freshman class, with Folsom looking to be in the mix of names to watch going forward.
