Prep Hoops Wisconsin looks at five teams who may have flown under the radar last season, but are poised to make a lot more noise in 2023-24...

Milwaukee Bradley Tech

The Trojans were extremely young last year and suffered through growing pains of a 10-14 season. This group may be another year or away, but the experience of 2022-23 will pay huge dividends. Three of the top four scorers are back for Bradley Tech. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='1749722' first='Jakari' last='Smith'] is an exciting, young talent that's expected to make a huge leap after posting eight points per game as a freshman.

15-10 is a respectable mark, but the Lancers are a proud program that expects better. Think they'll return to the norm this winter behind a strong core of players. Illinois State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1142131' first='Jack' last='Daugherty'] (17.4 ppg) leads the way. A sweet-shooting stretch forward, the 6-foot-8 senior is one of the toughest matchups in the state. Expect junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1272671' first='Anthony' last='Rise'] (13.2 ppg) to take a big step now that he's got two seasons of varsity under his belt. In and out of the lineup last season, senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1463408' first='Charlie' last='Geske'] (15.0 ppg) is one of the best players in Wisconsin that people don't talk about.

Ashwaubenon

The Fox River Classic lost a lot of senior talent. Aside from De Pere, Ashwaubenon reloads as much as anyone. Coming off a 15-10 season, the Jaguars are led by the guard duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1260946' first='Drew' last='Tomashek'] (14.2 ppg) and [player_tooltip player_id='1418526' first='Jayden' last='Schoen'] (13.4 ppg), who have played a ton of ball together. Senior forward Jackson Sims (11.7 ppg) is also back for one more go-around. In what was a rebuilding year in 2022-23, Ashwaubenon exceeded a lot of expectations. Bigger things are now in store after reaching regionals in March.

Gale-Ettrick-Trempeauleau

[player_tooltip player_id='1145649' first='Cody' last='Schmitz'] is back and that's bad news for the Coulee Conference. One of the state's premier scorers and players, Schmitz put up 29 points as a junior, leading GET to a 15-13 record. West Salem has been atop the league and had consecutive runner-up finishes in Division 3. They're now vulnerable after losing all but one of their key performers. Schmitz's running mate, senior wing Braden Anibas (11.3 ppg) leading assist man, sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1561902' first='Mason' last='Brone'] (4.6 apg) are also back for GET, giving them a formidable lineup.

Grafton

They've got to find depth, but I have a hard time seeing Grafton going 13-12 again with what they have atop their roster. The injury bug hit the Blackhawks a bit last season as well, but when you have a duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1371733' first='Juan' last='Guerrero Hernandez'] (18.6 ppg) and Northern Michigan commit [player_tooltip player_id='1142122' first='Michael' last='McNabb'] (23.7 ppg), that's good enough to carry you most nights. The North Shore is still going to be a tough grind, likely led by Nicolet and Homstead, but Grafton was just one game out of finishing in a tie for third place last season, despite its 10-8 league record.
