THE FAVORITE - De Pere

While they did lose Johnny Kinziger to Illinois State, among others, it might be state title or bust once again for De Pere. The Redbirds still have plenty in the cupboard, including Northern Iowa bound [player_tooltip player_id='1193234' first='Will' last='Hornseth'] (16.6 ppg) and Wisconsin commit [player_tooltip player_id='1351717' first='Zach' last='Kinziger'] (15.4 ppg). Don't think that this roster isn't deep either. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1908410' first='Pryce' last='Gregoire'] (6.2 ppg), senior [player_tooltip player_id='1238625' first='Ben' last='Willihnganz'] (5.7 ppg), and junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1598992' first='Roan' last='Demovsky'] (1.1 ppg) make this a dangerous group that can beat you in a lot of ways.

DARK HORSE - Ashwaubenon

The Jaguars finished fourth in the league last season in what was a rebuilding year for the program after reaching the state tournament the year prior. Ashwaubenon has a nice 1-2 punch here in senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1260946' first='Drew' last='Tomashek'] (14.2 ppg) and [player_tooltip player_id='1418526' first='Jayden' last='Schoen'] (13.4 ppg). Three of the top four scorers are back from last season, including senior forward Jackson Sims (11.7 ppg), who also averaged in double figures last season.

Could very well see the De Pere duo splitting the award. The Redbirds are primed for another run to Madison and the overwhelming favorite to win the Fox River Classic. Hornseth and Kinziger each feed off one another so well and are arguably the top inside-outside duo in the state.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER - [player_tooltip player_id='1908410' first='Pryce' last='Gregoire']

This kid is getting good in a hurry. De Pere was so loaded last season they didn't need Gregoire during their 30-0 Division 1 state title run, but they will in 2023-24. A lengthy, versatile wing/forward with some sneaky athleticism, Gregoire averaged just under seven points per game off the bench as a sophomore. Gregoire is quickly gaining confidence, adding parts to his game, and developing into a real matchup problem at 6-foot-6.

SLEEPER TO WATCH - [player_tooltip player_id='1412884' first='Andrew' last='Rader']

Rader was injured late last season and missed the entire spring/summer as well. The 6-foot-9 center is a player we were very high on early. Last season as a sophomore, Rader posted nine points and five rebounds per game while playing alongside a couple of seniors and strong college prospects. A big man with mobility and touch around the rim who can also be an enforcer in the paint, Rader, is back to 100 percent, can be one of the better players in this league.
