A rising, yet still under-the-radar name, Roberts was one of several key pieces in Rockhurst’s 28–2 season and third-place finish at state. Kemper fits the mold of a true wing/forward, with the ability to stretch the floor by knocking down perimeter shots while also bringing versatility as a rebounder and defender.
His production came in waves this winter, largely due to Rockhurst’s team-first identity, which featured strong contributors at nearly every position.
He’s a name to keep a close eye on as he gets in front of college coaches and programs this summer. Roberts projects as a strong Division II prospect, and a productive summer could help build momentum heading into his senior year — where he’s likely to step into a leading role at Rockhurst next winter.
Roberts is another key piece for a Rockhurst team that checks a lot of boxes. His size on the wing allows him to take advantage of smaller defenders, and he’s a very capable shooter from deep. He should be one of the better pure shooters you’ll see in Columbia, especially with how well he moves without the ball — constantly relocating and finding openings to get his quick release off.
He’s also effective using his size to create space in the paint, whether he’s driving or cutting, which makes him a tough matchup that plays off of Robinson and Sullivan. He also gives Rockhurst more size up front and adds to their overall defensive identity. He’s the type of player who can contribute on the glass when needed and impact the game on both ends of the floor. Just another reason why Rockhurst is expected by many to cut down the nets.
Kemper is a deadly shooter off the catch, showcasing remarkable quickness and accuracy in his shooting form. His ability to seamlessly transition from receiving the ball to releasing a well-timed shot makes him a constant threat from beyond the arc. With excellent footwork and a smooth release, Kemper can get his shot off in tight spaces, even under defensive pressure. He has an innate sense of positioning, always ready to capitalize on the perfect pass. His quick release and confidence in his shooting ability force defenders to close out hard, creating space for both himself and his teammates. Kemper’s effectiveness as a shooter off the catch makes him a valuable asset to any offensive system.
