About Kylan
Expert Analysis
Daniel Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
Pickren continues to fly under the radar, but he’s definitely not letting that affect his play on the floor. At UAA Session I in Kansas City, he really came on strong and played some of his best basketball as the weekend went on. There’s a lot to like about the experienced wing — his size and strength, his understanding of when and how to attack, and the way his skill set translates on both ends. Heading into UAA Session II this weekend in Ohio, look for Kylan to pick up right where he left off by getting downhill, finishing through contact, and playing above the rim in transition. If his perimeter shooting stays consistent throughout the weekend, watch out — he could quickly become a very attractive recruit for a number of next-level programs.

A heady, smart player, Pickren showed a lot of layers to his game over the weekend. Playing mostly off the ball, he found success as a wing slasher, getting to the rim and playing off two feet. He absorbed contact well and finished through traffic. Kylan was also a strong option as a secondary cutter, finding space around the rim. He was efficient as a catch-and-shoot threat from behind the arc, knocking down multiple threes while showing good spacing and a feel for finding open spots on the floor. An underrated athlete, he also made an impact in transition, playing above the rim.

Another bona fide scorer, Pickren’s combination of size, skill, and feel should make him a coveted next-level prospect. He led Ozark to a 19–8 record while averaging nearly 25 points per game to go with six rebounds, shooting 39% from long range.
Kylan’s steady rise reached a new level this winter, as he showed a flair for the dramatic — knocking down one contested shot after another and frequently playing above the rim in the open floor. A true three-level scorer, there isn’t much he can’t do on that end.
It’s not a question of if, but when the offers begin to roll in. He should have every opportunity to build on his winter momentum and continue showing next-level programs what he can do up close this summer.

He can shoot it from deep with a quick release. He has a solid build and he can also use it to work over smaller defenders in the post. He spent a very good summer playing with the KC Run GMC 16U squad.

The 6’5 2027 wing is a pure scorer from just about anywhere on the floor. If he has any space on the catch, he’ll size up the defender and raise up to hit the 3-pointer. What’s impressive is that he’s never in a hurry. He gets to where he wants to go and he can
