After being one of the top teams in central Ohio the past three seasons with Russell, this season has been a roller coaster for the Pacers and their senior leader. Russell is still doing everything he can for his team with a big time performance on Tuesday at home. Making some tough perimeter shots, Russell has the ability to get hot in a hurry from the perimeter. I also liked how Delaware Hayes moved Russell off the ball, helping him get some easier looks without having to create off the dribble for himself every time. One of the top guards in central Ohio, expect Russell to carry Delaware Hayes to some tough wins in 2026.

Russell has been a complimentary piece for one of the top teams in central Ohio the past two seasons. This year, he’s the leader of the Pacers program with the talent and experience to contend for an OCC player of the year award. Russell was dominant at midwest live with dynamic play on the ball. I think this type of career trajectory is perfect for a player to hit the ground running at the college level. Russell watched as back-to-back seasons Delaware Hayes was led by MAC commits as he played a sidekick role to some of the best players in the state. Now as a senior Russell will be the one his teammates rely on to close games, create shots and lead on the defensive end of the floor. I still expect Delaware Hayes to be extremely competitive in the OCC this season with Russell leading the way.

Delaware Hayes came out and executed their offense to perfection in a win over Western Reserve Academy. Russell is the point guard for the Pacers and made some slick passes in transition to push the ball down the court. Able to play in the pick and roll, Russell is a capable pull-up shooter who also makes the right read as a passer. He ended the first half with an and-1 layup and continued his momentum in the second half with another and-1 and two more 3-pointers. A top performance from one of the steadier guards in central Ohio’s 2026 class.

Russell started cooking as a perimeter scorer off the dribble, knocking down a ton of pull-up jumpers on Saturday. The mid-range area was Russell’s favorite part of the court to operate on Saturday morning, getting to his spots from the 12-18 foot range for rhythm pull-ups. A prospect who took a big leap as a Sophomore, becoming a key piece for the central region champions in Division I, Russell will now be a leader for a Delaware Hayes squad that once again has high expectations.

Starting on a team that made it to the Division I final four, Russell had one of the biggest rises during the high school season of any 2026 prospect. A point guard who impacts the game in a variety of ways, Russell improved his outside shot, explosiveness and confidence attacking off the bounce from freshman to sophomore year. Always encouraging to see prospects take clear leaps from one year to the next, showing that they’ve put the work in with their game to improve. Hope to see another jump from Russell as the Pacers lose a couple starters from the regional championship squad, but have the returning pieces to make another deep playoff run.

A player who keeps getting better, Russell started his rise in the fall and has continued to improve each time I watch him play. Knocking down multiple spot-up 3’s in the first half, one from the wing and another from the corner, Russell has improved his confidence as a perimeter shooter. Russell also had an acrobatic lefty finish where he hung in the air and had another lefty transition layup after he used his active hands defensively to force a turnover. Despite being one of the smaller guys on the court, Russell got his own miss on a layup and got an easy putback as a result. While Delaware Hayes has a strong senior core, the Pacers have a lot of talent in their Sophomore and Junior class that will be hungry to compete again next season.

Recently making his debut in our 2026 rankings after a strong showing at the Midwest Fall League, Russell continued his impressive season with a strong performance against Big Walnut in a big spot on the road. Opening the game Russell had a nice extension step layup and then had a patient drive that left the hedge defender in the dust. The pace Russell plays at with the ball in his hands is advanced for a Sophomore. Becoming a more consistent shooter from the outside is an area of improvement for Russell, he knocked down one contested 3-pointer from the top of the key but missed a pair when he was given time and space. If Russell is knocking down open looks at a high rate, watch out for him next season when the Pacers rely on him even more than they do right now.

Like Davis, Russell has helped take charge of one of the top teams in central Ohio as a Sophomore and making plays at both ends of the floor. A standout at the Midwest Basketball Club Fall League, Russell had maybe the highlight of the season with a monster poster dunk. I love the tenacity he plays with defensively, forcing a lot of turnovers by jumping passing lanes and pressuring ball handlers. On the offensive end of the court, Russell is a pass first point guard who wants to get into the lane and kick to one of Hayes Division I recruits on the wing. Delaware Hayes has the talent to make a deep playoff run with pieces like Russell leading the way.

The highlight of the day was a drive and slam dunk by Russell that had the gym going crazy. A bouncy guard who is best in transition, this was a half-court drive and punch at the rim. Scoring at the rim was where Russell found his most success on Saturday as he provides an athletic spark. Delaware Hayes is projected to be one of the top teams in Columbus this winter and Russell provides a different level of pop as an athlete from the guard position then they’ve had in the past.
